There will be others in the room, not just the doctor. He'll need at least one assistant. So don't worry about being raped, although that is a very scary idea.
When I got mine out, the doctor said something like "Hey look at this, the nerve here is very close to wear I'm cutting. You may have permanent damage. Here, sign this waiver." I freaked out and started crying, but it all ended up ok. No damage or anything, although I don't like that doctor. The worst part for me was coming out of the anesthesia. Being that out of it is really freaky. I'm glad your mom will be there with you. I have a friend who was picked up by other friends after her surgery, and they let her sleep on her side. She was in so much pain.
