I can see both sides of the coin.

I can see why they like recruiting freshman because they are thinking "four years of college, prime them for alumnae membership". The problem is is that only a quarter of collegians actually continue to remain involved once they graduate.

But on the other side I think you can still push that a sorority is for a lifetime with a sophomore/junior and even senior. And the older the sister is the more willing they might be for alumnae membership.

If I'm making sense at all.

When I was initiated, one of the girls in my Alpha class was actually a Junior. So it can be done.

I think sororities just need to edge away from "freshman are the best". They need to look at the girl, if she is a good fit with the chapter and sorority as a whole and not look at her age/"grade".
