Personally I think it's great that NPC finally realized that one size does not fit all when it comes to recruiting. Formal Recruitment, even with it's craziness and constricted time frame, does work for large, strong Greek campuses. But it doesn't for small and traditionally non-Greek campuses. After killing themselves physically and financially, Chapters would end up with a handful of new members. Then they'd turn right around and start in on COR.

The other beneficial change to come out of NPC in recent years is changing how Quota is set. It should now be set using campus historical statistics and not set until after Pref round (as opposed to after 1st round). That's great because on some campuses a slew of women always sign up to start and always drop out. That just setting Chapters up to miss Quota.

I agree that there must be different "options" of structuring recruitment.

I do know that most of the quota setting is done the night before pref night so the chapter can properly set their bid list in preference rank.

That works out well. I also know some universities have quota-predictions where they let chapters know each day based on release figures about what quota can be which can be good or bad......

I believe by this year 2005, every NPC campus is supposed to be using the new Quota Range & Setting systems (what Doves95 described). NPC allowed some time for campuses to phase in the new systems, but I'm pretty sure this is the last year. For anyone whose campus isn't using these new systems with Formal Recruitment, you may want to contact your Greek Advisor and find out what the deal is.

Yes I think the "phasing in" or transition period started in like 2002 or 2003 and I believe you are right Zillini in that its for all to be on the new "systems" of NPC by 2005 if not definately by 2006.

I think it's 2006. In 2003 they did the "beta" testing of it as I think 4 Universities. In 2004 they asked for systems that wanted to go to it to apply. Not all were guaranteed to be switched at that time b/c they did not know if they would have enough trained people to do all systems that wanted to go to it. The chapter I was working with applied and was accepted to switch last year. I think this year is the last for voluntary compliance, after that you have no choice but to switch. I don't know where NPC is on the training but I'm sure they've come a long way since last year. I think they were overwhelmed by the number of systems that wanted to switch voluntarily.
