If you cant have a party, then my suggestion is to have a large poker tournament. Everyone seems to like playing cards these days, everyone can play and you can have some sort of prize.

Jason has good points and you should listen to them. I would expand on those with just these comments:

1. If you have a good relationship with some sororities, ask them for the names of prospective members. Different circles may yield many more names than you would come up with on your own.

2. Do not lock yourself in to just one "Rush" in the Spring. If you associate 10 new guys in January, springboard off those guys with another recruitment period in March or April. It may sound like a redundant slogan from the Headquarters, but recruitment is a year round activity. Unless your IFC restricts it, there is no prohibition on the number of association periods you can have in any given semester. Whether subsequent groups are 3, 5, 10, or 20 guys, you will do better with rolling recruitment.

in ZAX,
Eric

suggestion

Does your chapter do Watermelon Bust?? Usually in the fall,
and not good outdoors in the Winter, but how about a variation:

If they'll go along, set up some kind of sorority competition.
Invite rushees to be the "judges"....basically, get the girls
there and the rushees will follow!

Maybe a better suggestion is team up with a sorority and do
a service project...invite rushees to help. Maybe THE GIRLS
can throw an after-activity party and "invite" the LX's and
rushees.

Youre already closed unless you change your mindset about recruitment. Some good suggestions have been given here, but take the emphasis off the damn house. Obviously its not as big of a selling point as you think, or it would be full.

Also, people join people, not houses. We were the only group on campus to have a house for a good 10 years and our numbers were damn near identical to the rest of the fraternities on campus. It really made no difference.

Recruitment is 24/7/365 do or die. Understand it and adapt to it or dont and die. The choice is yours. Pick up the Great Passage workbook and have your delta memorize it and put it into practice. So many chapters have had success with it, why NOT try it?

Good luck.

Thumbs up

Brother Josh,

I hope you are still keeping up with this thread.

All of the Brothers here especially Alums are Very Active with The LXA Organization and Brothers from the Active to Alum level whether it be with Their Local Chapter or other Chapters.

That shows to me what LXA is all about, being a Brother is not just the local guys but all LXs. As (Andy) lifesaver, said, unless you and the Chapter changes your mind set, then you will not succeed.

What this boils down to, is that there has to be some changes before You as a Chapter can continue or fail.

Trust each of us, We have all been there whether with Our Chapters or Adopted Chapters. Check back through some of the threads and see what each of many GC LXAs do with their or other Chapters. Tells me what LXA means to us and many more like us who are not on this site.

Why not ask some of the Chapter Brothers to try this site and see what Being a Brother Really means.

Brother Joiner,

You say those words and my ears perk up...Watermelon Bust! If you have seen or heard of the even at UK the past few years, yes, that was my doing. Anywho, if anyone reading this thread is interested in Watermelon Bust that doesn't do it, I have one killer WB program that has been complimented by many people of the fraternity. Hit me up, and I will be glad to share it with you.

May also apply to some law schools in NC.

Would you guys be kewl with a brother who is 37yo hangin with you and helpin out some?

Thought and Prayers are with y'all!!!!

Yours in ZAX,

Roy
