I just set up the TIVO. It's being shown at 9:00 pm (ET/PT) on 9/1, and 1:00 am on 9/2 (that's 8 and midnight for central time zoners who are Eastern Time translation challenged!)

Here's the description from the History Channel's web-site:

A 90-minute study of American college fraternities from elitist emergence in the 1820s, through the 19th century as they became accepted into the collegiate mainstream, and into the 20th century as they experienced public outcry due to hazing scandals and widespread alcohol abuse. We also follow University of Mississippi freshman Curran Foose through fraternity rush, pledging, and initiation at Phi Delta Theta. Other frat boys we talk to include Kevin Costner and Matthew McConaughey. TV PG

Could go either way?

The History Channel has dumbed down it's material for your average, GDI viewer (j/k). But I trust this will neither hurt nor help. I don't think they'll be able to promote greek life the way we would want it, but at the same time, I'm thinking they won't be glorifying us as drunk rich elitist "followers".

I think it will be balanced and fair. Historians are supposed to look at history from most possible views and I am sure they will get information from many different sources. I will be suprized if the History channel would show something greek bashing. I am glad they are doing the show. I have my history degree and concider myself an amature historian. I love greek history as long as other type histories.

I wonder if they are going to discuss sororities or not. It looks like it is all about fraternities. Prove my assumptions wrong!

I think the special has something to do with the rerelease of "Animal House". I've seen several things recently about the movie on various channels. It must be coming out on DVD and they are really playing it up.

Just my observation from a communication standpoint.

It is coming out soon, with lots of extras on the DVD. They're calling it "The Double Secret Probation Edition."
