graduate chapter
Hello to all of the ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and to all other friends who usually make posts to this board.
This is my first time posting, although I have been keeping up with the board for a little while now. However, I now have a question that has caused me to “reveal myself.” I hope my question will not be seen as inappropriate.
I have had the desire to become a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated for many, many years. I read the post from “One Day” on February 17th and found that her situation is similar to mine. I differ a little in that I do many of the things that you all suggested including being an active member of my church and I also participate in a program that takes musical performance to a senior citizens home. I highly enjoy everything that I do, but it seems that every time I meet a member of AKA either 1) she isn’t active, 2) the chapter isn’t planning on having a line anytime soon, or 3) my timing is just bad. As important as it is I don’t want to change my community service/ministry to look for AKAs because I feel that I am using my gifts.
I say all of this to ask: Is there anyone (particularly Lady AKA, because I thought I recalled reading that you were in the DC area) that could help me find some volunteer opportunities with a graduate chapter in the DC/Montgomery County, MD area? If so it would be GREATLY APPRECIATED. (Sorry the message is so long.)
