This question is a repeat but i couldnt find the orignal
Hey everyone! I did a google rearch on my question and it led me to this forum. The search was about non-tradtional students joining a sororioty. So sorry if this is a repeat question. I got my undergrad already in fashion merchandising. My 2ollege was just a hour and half from my home. It wa7 a big univ. With a great emphasis on greek life. My 2 best friends were kappa kappa gammas and pi phis. So from wat i heard from them its very hard t6 join a soroity as a grad. Student. But i really want to bc i will be moving 20 hrs from all my old hs and college friends. Ive always been encouraged to rush but resisted. I now have a change of heart and regret my decision. I also t6ta5y changed my major drastically from fashion to get my masters in social work. I love how the greeks help out in the community also. What should i do? Just forget about it or pursue what i want? Do i have any chance? Im going to a new, small, and growing univ. Anw advice would be great! Thanks!

First: learn how to type.
Second: no NPC sorority allows graduate students to rush a collegiate chapter, as far as I'm aware.

Chi Sigma Kappa Sorority
Hi Sheepie56,
Chi Sigma Kappa Sorority is a new service sorority founded especially for nontraditional undergraduate and graduate women. Take a look at our website (it's not fancy, but it does its job for now), and if you're interested just send an email. Whatever you decide to do, best of luck to you.

Just to inform you. As far as your awareness goes, it is incorrect. There are in fact, organizations that do allow it. Whether the chapters are open to it or not may vary by campus.

I don't know why, but I always hesitate in posting the names of the two sororities I know of (that allow graduate students to retain collegiate membership status). I'd hate for "PNMs of the graduate student kind" to think that they have a way in just because those two sororities do allow it. BabyPink is right on when she said that it varies by campus. Just because the sororities allow it doesn't mean it'll happen.

AND, there is a difference between organizations allowing a current member to retain active status as a grad student, and organizations extending a bid to a grad student as a new member.
Everyone has regrets/opportunities... rather than looking back on what you think you missed by not being in a sorority as an undergrad, you might be better served by looking ahead at the new opportunities of grad school, your new college, and how you will utilize your social work degree once you are out of college. You resisted Greek life as an undergrad--maybe for good reason. You may be attracted to it now because you feel a little adrift.
Volunteer in the community, focus on your classes (which are in a completely new academic area), take advantage of opportunities for research, academic conferences, departmental functions, professional organizations, etc. As others have said.... grab a dates with 18 year olds, mandatory meetings, and recruitment workshops may not be the laugh riot you think it will be.
