I really think that y'all who are predicting doom and gloom for the country simply because of the Republican victories have lost touch with reality and guilty of major hyperbole.
What is every politicians' main objective?
To get re-elected.
I don't think you are going to see massive changes to the American way of life. The government will continue on a rather middle of the road stance as it always has. You will not see the newly elected Republicans do things so radical as to hurt their chances of re-election.
Yes, Bush may have support to oust Hussein, but so what? It needs to be done. ANWR might get revisited, and as much as i disagree with the stances of many fellow Republicans, i doubt all of a sudden our pristene wilderness areas are going to become toxic waste dumping grounds. Don't forget, the NRA is probably a big supporter of Republicans, and they would be as upset as anyone if anything happened to lands that are prime hunting areas.
In closing, lets refrain from namecalling, stereotyping, and all the other low class things i've been seeing. We are all Americans here. This country is the greatest in the world. Why? Because we are able to have elections, and have bloodless changes in power.
Kitso
KS 361 things that make me proud to be an American on election days.
PS...I guarantee the economy will rebound by the time Bush is up for re-election.
