Looks like the Republicans have the Senate...

Looks like the Republicans have taken the senate by at least 1 and maybe even 2 depending on how things shake out in Louisiana. How do ya'll think the next 2 years will be with them controlling the white house, the house and the senate?

The1calledTKE 11-06-2002 11:21 AM

Next two years... War with Iraq and anyone Bush doesn't like. More tax cuts for rich people, the repeal of more envronmental laws, and the economy will go even more to crap.

Optimist Prime 11-06-2002 11:22 AM

Still need 60 votes in senate to pass anything.

We're going to hell in a handbasket.

I wish I knew. These idiot bastards in Maryland just elected the http://www.click-smilie.de/sammlung/.../teufel029.gif as governor. So I don't want to hear a PEEP when there are no more school lunches, education gets $2.50, criminals get their guns back, and the Bay starts to glow orange from the toxic waste he shovels in. If you couldn't tell, I'm disgusted by this.

Go Republicans!:p

not true, a majority is needed to pass a bill, 60 is needed to pass something without a filibuster, thats why mccain needed 60 on campaign finance reform b/c he didnt have 60 votes in the past and it was filibustered, even though a majority was in favor.

on another note, its awesome that republicans control the house, senate and white house!!! now we will have some good getting done in this country in the next two years!!!!!

You know, for all you Democrats out there boohooing about our country going to hell in a handbasket, I ask you to take a look at the ridiculousness that ensued in the NJ Senate election. NJ Dems choose Bob Toricelli and because he's such a damn thief and crook, he has to resign b/c ethically, the whole state thinks he's awful. To counteract this move, 40 days before the election (and i'm being generous with 40 days...it was less), they get a 78 year old Democrat who retired from the Senate to run. And the old man wins!!!

Maybe the NJ Supreme Court felt they were helping NJ voters have a chance, but to ask a candidate to change their campaign with 40 days left to fight a guy who was pretty much like an incumbent (the man served 20 years in the Senate) is a bunch of shit. So if you want Democrats who screw everything up, I advise to move to Jersey :)

As for the Senate, I nearly burst into tears of joy watching Tom Daschle on the morning news shows cry the blues for his party. Guess his paycheck will be a little smaller come January!!
