I don't think getting pregnant is the issue, it's pre-marital sex period. Why blast the ones who get pregnant? For every girl who gets pregnant before she's married, there are 49 more who did the same deed, but their stomachs are still flat, so they got away with it.
I agree with what kddani said. Most people on this message board are not that morally simplistic. There's nothing wrong with believing "sex before marriage"="bad", but you can't base other people's actions on your morals.

women having pre-marital sex is not the problem

lack of information/education is the problem

Agreed. And the prevalent thought of "it won't happen to me"

I agree w/Christiangirl. While her viewpoint may be based in her moral/religious beliefs, I think that her point still holds true just from a logic stand point. There are tons of people in the world that are having sex and taking chances. Even though many people use birth controls, clearly that isn't a fullproof method. So in my mind, most people are just a twist of fate away from some of the realities/situations described on this board. True, some folks may be better able to handle and deal w/those situations if they were to find themselves there, than say a teenager or a student. However, it seems hypocritical to blast someone for getting pregnant before marriage when but for sheer luck that person could have been you. Some folks act like they don't know that they are fortunate that the condom remained in tact or that the .1% didn't happen to them.

I'm not basing their actions on my morals, I'm basing others' judgments on logic. The only (traditional) way to get pregnant is to have sex right? So, if pre-marital sex supposed to be not a big deal, then why is pre-marital pregnancy a big deal? Sex is risky business and contraceptives don't always work--anybody's pill can be ineffective and anybody's condom can tear. That being said, it isn't fair to judge anybody, but if one is going to do so, judge the action and motives of the person, not the result which came about by a stroke of luck, the grace of God, or whatever she believes kept her unfertilized for one more day.

As for the other part of the post, yes, I know a lot of people who got pregnant without being married......90% of my family in fact. For the most part, they acted foolishly, playing the "it can't happen to me" game. My sister got pregnant before she was married, and she was a college graduate, in a committed relationship, and using protection. So it was not because she was uneducated or careless, but because she was one of the .01% of people that condom package talks about. While your background, education, and whatever else can all play a role, in the end, that's not what determines it. It can still happen no matter what you do or where you come from, so since we can't judge chance/destiny/etc. I say leave judgements at the door.

My suggestion keep your legs closed.

yup... premarital sex is the cause for homosexuality and all of that other stuff. incredible, isnt it?

That gets truer every generation.

After reading and seeing all the stuff about HIV infections, whatever one can tell these kids to stop playing with fire and trying to find physical means supplementing their lack self-esteems and perpetuating a vicious cycle would be good...

I just do not know anymore... Folks getting busy, unmarried, regardless... Forget more unwanted children, what about HIV/AIDS? And African American women have the highest rates in the United States. WTF? WTH? There are only few ways folks can get HIV... I just cain't believe that ALL African American women the United States are either IV drug users or that illicit in having sex... Regardless if their "man" is on the down low...
