I think she probably got a partial financial aid deal and went with it--that, or she was dead set on going to school in NYC and took out loans for whatever her parents couldn't or wouldn't pay.

Looks like the stimulus package is kicking in. My paycheck for tomorrow is a bit higher due to less federal tax withholding.
