...you don't know how burning hair smells...a la hot comb.

...you can't remember ever running for the ice cream man.

...if you lived in the city, you never got wet running through the fire hydrant in the summer.

...you never played hopscotch on the city sidewalk.

...the neighborhood 'candystore' was actually a store.

...you never owned a pair of 'bullettoes'.

...you don't remember that "CUGA" shoes actually meant "Can you get Addidas?" LMAO!!!

I am not pressing my daughter's hair. If she needs it straightened, then I'll take her to the hairdresser. No hot combs on my stove.

It was a semi year round style for me. Let me see if I can find a pic, lol. I think I stopped for good summer after 7th grade when I had to go swimming every day.

How about you had a "Candy Lady" that lived in your apt. building/on your block/around the corner, and you stopped by there before you walked to school? LOL...

And I remember those days sitting in class bored when I was in the 5th grade...down ever slip and decide to lean your head against you hand--you ended up w/ Blue Magic ALL OVER you hand!!!

You played "double dutch"with an extension cord that was 50 ft long...

You lived in a house that had bars on the windows...

Or you have distinct memories of a certain period of time in your childhood when the "ice cream man" would come around at like 8pm--it would be JET DARK outside...hmm, you sell 'ice cream', you say? Sure...

You will lose your black card if...you go outside without a jacket or coat when it is below 50 degrees or wear shorts in the winter.

Maybe I'm dating myself, but the Black card would be pulled if I went out in the rain as a child without my plastic "rain scarf"

You'd lose your black card if ...

you didn't know the words to the first verse of "Lift Ev'ry Voice And Sing..."

you went to a birthday party, allegedly thrown for "little DeVante," but a half-hour into the party it was more adults than kids there and serious games of bid whist and tonk had broken out.

your mother didn't put that bright red mecuricome thiolate (sp) on EVERYTHING, from a scraped elbow to a broken leg.

you didn't think the Jackson 5 had it hands down over the Osmonds.

You probably had some good old Blue Bergamot hair grease in yo' head!

Ok For me I had my card pulled plenty of times for:

Not knowing how to play spades!

Not wanting to eat fried chicken all the time.

Growing up in a house where hot sauce wasn't a staple

Kool Aid was not allowed in my mother house.

Never tasting chitterlings

Not cleaning a chicken bone or rib bone when I eat it!

Now others may disagree but there is nothing Black about cleaning a chicken or rib bone, drinking Koolaid, eating chitterlings (heck some Black people - like me - grew up not eating pork at all) or eating fried chicken all the time.

Now ykimber, I might agree that you need your card pulled for not knowing how to play spades!! What?? LOL
