Did anyone else catch when Chris Rock introduced Jeremy Irons & called him the master of comedy? My fiance & I looked at each other & began to wonder what comedy he'd done b/c as far as I know, Jeremy Irons does drama. He even made a comment himself about it being nice to be recognized.
Was Chris Rock trying to be sarcastic or did he really not have a clue as to who Jeremy Irons is?

Let's just say that Minnie has a very pretty mezzo-soprano/alto voice and she would have done a MUCH better job than Beyonce. I was yelling at the tv.

They don't pay for their dresses, they are given to them by designers.

No I'm not joking. I thought she did a great job and that's my opinion. I ain't mad at the girl for singing three songs. She's very talented. I also thought she looked amazing during each performance. That's how I saw it.
The show overall was pretty good. It seemed to go by pretty quickly. In terms of dresses I liked: Renee Zellweger, Hilary Swank, Cate Blanchett, Charlize Theron, Gwyneth Paltrow, Salma Hayek, and Halle Berry.

LOL, when I first saw this I misread and thought there was going to be a Broadway musical of Showgirls. The snow is hitting my brain.
Hilary Swank might be a wonderful actress, but damn the girl looks like Mrs. Ed.

Anyone think that Chad Lowe isn't as cute as he used to be? I was totally in love with him when he was Jesse on Life Goes On

I loved both the dresses that Kate Winslet and Hilary Swank wore. wow!
As for Chris Rock...he was okay. I would love to see Billy Crystal back or even Robin Williams host. I wasn't thrilled with Chris Rock's opening "monologue."
YAY for Jamie Foxx. I was happy that both he (and Morgan Freeman) won Oscar. I highly doubt it was because they were black. They both did an OUTSTANDING job with their movie roles.
I was SO upset that Beyonce sang both The Phantom of the Opera and "Believe" with Josh Groban. Josh Groban just makes that one of my favorite songs. As for Phantom, she just didn't do it for me. I heard Minnie Driver's version....100 times better.

I loved Chris Rock as host...the songs were the worst I've ever heard them. At first I didn't realize that she was singing them all and I was like why is Jay-Z at the oscars? but then was like oh yeah he is sleeping with Beyonce.

Could be worst, imagine Antonio Banderas singing Phantom of the Opera with Sarah Brightman. It happen and I cringed when I herd it. Thankfully, Banderas didn't try to sing Music of the Night. If interested, go and seek out The Royal Albert Hall Celebration DVD.

Are you refering to Scarlett Johansson's hair?
It was looking awful. It looked like she stuck her finger in a light socket and then put some clips in her hair and said, "ok, I'm ready for my closeup".

I agree. For a minute there, I thought she was singing Spanish and not French.
Singing in a foreign language is not easy, and just because you can speak french doesn't mean you can sing it. Most vocal majors take a diction class to learn how to sing certain languages. I'm sure Beyonce has taken a few classes, but it still didn't sound good at all.

One huge co-sign. Aside from a few good moments, like the Gap routine, Chris Rock didn't rock as a host. The format was uber-cheesy, and having to listen to Beyonce three times (and look at her face paint on the Phantom song), once with the vocal irritations of Josh Groban, had me ready to make a Drano cocktail. (I did actually leave the room during the Beyonce-Groban duet -- I don't willingly submit to torture.)
The Oscars earn a razzie this year.
