LABEL LEAVES LOOSE ENDS: Aaliyah’s funeral bill still unpaid.

Aug. 28, 2003) *As the beautiful songbird rests in peace, there’s drama brewing at her record label. Two years after Aaliyah’s untimely death in a Bahamas plane crash, the funeral company that shipped Aaliyah and the other eight victims home have yet to be paid, according to reports by the New York Post. Butlers Funeral Home director, Loretta Turner, has stated that there is an outstanding debt of $70,000, which was to be paid based upon a verbal agreement with Virgin Records.

"Virgin has reneged on everything," Turner said.

Aaliyah’s record label has given statements in the past that the promises were made by two executives that are no longer with the record label.

Ja Hooks Up With Ving Rhames

Ja Rule Joins Rhames' Film Gang

Ving Rhames and rapper-actor Ja Rule will star in the indie feature "Back in the Day" for writer-director James Hunter. The film is slated to start production next month in Puerto Rico. The project is about a man (Ja Rule) from the right side of the tracks who does a favor for an old friend (Rhames) mired in gang activity. After doing so, Rule's character gets caught up in a situation beyond his control. Joe Morton also stars as a minister whose death sets the rest of the events into motion.

Rhames is in production on Universal Pictures' "Dawn of the Dead." Ja Rule, meanwhile, has been added to the cast of Miramax Films' "Shall We Dance?" opposite Jennifer Lopez. The duo have previously collaborated on such songs as "I'm Real" and "Ain't It Funny."

Rule's previous credits include "Half Past Dead," "The Fast and the Furious" and "Turn It Up." He next appears in "Scary Movie 3." The rapper has recently teamed with Murder Inc. head honcho Irv Gotti to form a new clothing line, ErvingGeoffrey (Rule's real name is Jeffrey, Gotti's is Irving).

				That's So Raven . . .

That Raven, she's so busy1 hour, 4 minutes ago Add Entertainment - USA TODAY to My Yahoo!

By Cesar G. Soriano, USA TODAY

It's not every day that you become the tween queen of television.

"It's crazy! I love it. I'm really enjoying myself, so it's cool," says Raven, the 17-year-old star of the Disney Channel comedy That's So Raven.

With the departure of Lizzie Maguire star Hilary Duff (news), the actress formerly known as Raven-Symone is now the top cheese at the kids' cable network. And Raven is spreading her wings:

The Cheetah Girls, a Disney original movie starring Raven as a singer in an all-girl band, premiered Aug. 15 with some of the best ratings ever for the network. The musical is in reruns.

That's SoRaven, about a girl who can see into the future just enough to get her into trouble, is now filming its second season. It's one of the highest-rated shows among "tween" viewers, ages 9 to 14. The show airs Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 7 p.m. ET/PT, with new episodes premiering Oct. 3. On Sept. 20, Disney-owned ABC will begin airing Raven reruns on its Saturday lineup at 10:30 a.m. ET/9:30 a.m. PT.

Raven will soon begin filming her first starring role in a feature film, Disney's All-American Girl. She also has been cast in the lead role for a Warner Bros. remake of Sparkle, about a Supremes-like group of singing sisters.

The singer/actress, who recorded her first album at age 5, will release a new album next year on Disney's Buena Vista records. She also sings the Raven theme song, contributes to the show's upcoming soundtrack and performs on the Cheetah Girls soundtrack.

On Sept. 7, Raven will perform the national anthem at the White House for the "Tee Ball on the South Lawn" game and picnic hosted by President Bush (news - web sites) and his wife, Laura.

The Atlanta native has been acting since she was in diapers. Before now, she was best known as the precocious 3-year-old Olivia on Bill Cosby (news)'s show, a role she barely remembers. "It's so foggy. But I do remember the smells, how the set smelled, how Mr. Cosby smelled."

After that came roles on Hangin' With Mr. Cooper and two Dr. Dolittle movies.

Raven also shares a bit of TV history. With the January premiere of That's So Raven, she became one of the few African-American actress to have her real name in a show title. That, along with the show's physical slapstick style of comedy, has led to media comparisons with I Love Lucy star Lucille Ball (news).

"I'm honored to be in that category. Wow. I can kind of see it, but that's a BIG name. When I'm acting, I try not to think about it. I'm just trying to be me.

"Hopefully everybody enjoys my work. Hopefully I'll stay grounded, and hopefully it doesn't backfire," says Raven. "If I did change, my family and friends would kick my butt!"

With Hollywood calling, she juggles reading movie scripts with reading textbooks. The home-schooled student graduates from high school next month. The accomplished cook would like to attend culinary school someday. And she still tries to maintain some semblance of a normal teenager's life.

"When I'm back in Atlanta with my friends, we shop, we chill, we flirt," says Raven. She declines to say whom she's flirting with. "Oh, that's personal. I have to keep something to myself!"

RADIO INTERVIEW TURNS VIOLENT: Jaheim takes the low road.

 Jaheim
(Aug. 29, 2003) *We've already told you how he recently showed out at a Miami beauty pageant, but now he's following in the footsteps of Whitney Houston and giving a new meaning to "gettin' ghetto on the radio."
The DJ Sway team at New York's WQHT (Hot 97) are probably still picking up equipment and scratching their heads wondering what the heezy?

Jaheim, who appeared on the radio show Tuesday, became infuriated when he was asked by Jimmy Marr if he was "a homosexual" during the interview. He responded by asking Marr the same question and then he really went off.

According to the Sway team, Jaheim and his ghetto posse verbally attacked Marr and "busted up" the studio, breaking microphones and equipment.

"It was like the opening of 'Saving Private Ryan,'" Sway stated. "Fat Man Scoop said we should rename our show The Fight Club."

Station program director, Tracy Cloherty, downplayed the incident by stating that it wasn't that bad.

"There were all kinds of rumors, like someone got stabbed," Cloherty explained. "All that happened was the guest didn't like a question and threw some stuff around. That's really it."

Uh, Tracy, we don't know if anyone's told you, but that's not supposed to happen.

Bobby Brown Uses His Get Out of Jail For Free Card

			Bobby Brown's Model Behavior?!?
50 minutes ago Add Entertainment - E! Online to My Yahoo!

By Marcus Errico
Citizens of Georgia, beware--Bobby Brown is back on the streets.

The trouble-prone singer was sprung from an Atlanta-area jail Friday, out a week early for--get this--good behavior.

Before Brown put the bars behind him, though, he had to make good for a November traffic stop, paying around $1,400 in fines for marijuana possession, speeding and driving without a license or insurance.

The fines were levied by Atanta Chief City Court Judge Calvin Graves after Brown pleaded guilty to driving without a license and speeding, and no contest to the pot and no-insurance charges. All were misdemeanors.
Judge Graves called Brown, appearing in the traffic court in leg shackles, a good role model with a "wonderful wife." That judge must be smoking that CHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Brown was less than a model driver when he was pulled over by Atlanta cops on November 7 for doing 52 in a 35 mph zone. A search of his car turned up a small amount of weed.

Brown appeared in the traffic court with his lawyer, but "wonderful wife" Whitney Houston, who made something of scene during Brown's court appearance earlier this week, was a no-show. HMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Brown was arrested on August 22 while dining with Houston at a seafood restaurant near their home in suburban Alpharetta. He had been wanted for over a month for failing complete his probation from a misdemeanor drunken-driving conviction last January. A fellow diner tipped off police.

During a hearing Wednesday in DeKalb County Court, Brown was sentenced to nine more days in jail for a total of 14. But he was let out early Friday morning--after serving seven days--for being, yes, a model inmate. (Sense a theme here?) At the Wednesday hearing, Houston arrived late and was admonished by a bailiff after taking a cell-phone call.

The former New Edition crooner has not quite settled all scores with the state of Georgia. As part of his sentence on the probation-violation charge, he still must serve 60 days of house arrest, complete an alcohol-treatment program and finish 40 hours of community service.
