Just got to work (early = overtime :D) and I heard thanks to Knowledge on Russ Parr that $1 million worth of marijuana was delivered to Universal Records in the past week. Forget which day. $1 MILLION!!?!?!?

They also reported what ace celeb dish reporter Afrochic uncovered earlier this week regarding Scottie Pippen who Ideal calls Alice the Goon. . .I got to thinking, WHY NOW?!!!?!?! Whitewater was about what 5 years ago. Scottie -- does he even still play?!?! All you called to ask for was $500?!!?!? You own salons NOW. When did your first salon open??!?! You have VIDEOS and you have never ever ever showed them to anyone?!?!?!?

I forgot to tell you all about this/ Not FEELING RAVEN AT ALL for this EITHER!!!

(Aug. 21, 2003) *Disney's "That's So Raven" star, Raven as in Raven Symone, has beat out Ashanti for the lead role in the Warner Brothers remake of "Sparkle."

The 17-year-old actress/singer will walk in big shoes when she plays the youngest sister in the the new version of the 1976 drama about a Supremes-like group of singing sisters. The role was originally played by Irene Cara.

For those that remember, the singing siblings initially encounter success, but that's when the drama began. And for that reason alone, only a strong actress/actress would qualify. Sorry Ashanti. Not this time.

The new version will keep the Curtis Mayfield penned songs from the original and Raven, who has just completed an album for Disney, will do her own singing in the film.

On another note, Michael Elliot, from "Like Mike," has been brought in to rewrite the script written by E. Lynn Harris

Yup, I heard that this morning as well. Wendy Williams reported here on my local radio station.

Scottie -- does he even still play?!?!

Yup, he sure does, he just went back to the Chicago Bulls after paying for the Portland Trailblazers for the last few years.

first of all, i'm soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
glad raven beat out ashanti. i can't stand that broad and i don't think she would have done the role justice.

i like raven. she is funny and a pretty decent actress. i am guilty of watching the disney channel (dropping my head in shame). i like "that's so raven" and i liked that movie "the cheetah girls"...i think raven will do a great job, and she has a decent voice.

wonder who will play "sista"?

The 17-year-old actress/singer...

i KNOW raven isn't that young! I think she is like 19, 20 - maybe even 21. I'm trying to think back to how old i was during the cosby years. It seems like "olivia" was but a few years younger than i was (i'll be 25 next week).

Soror don't feel bad. I too love the Disney Channel . I am a bit time kid at heart. I just saw the Cheetah Girls the other night and though it was full on cheesey, it was a cute movie. I even think the girls from 3LW were ok.

Cop on 'Queer Eye' in Trouble With Boss

Not sure if this should go here cuz it's "news" or the thread it self? So Mods move if you have to :D

NEW YORK (AP) - Chalk up another convert for the Fab Five.

A Port Authority police officer, who went on television for a makeover courtesy of "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy," is in no trouble with his bosses.

"Our police superintendent watched the show and enjoyed it thoroughly," Pasquale DiFulco, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, said on Thursday.

Officer John Verdi, 29, went on the Bravo network show in hopes of changing his image with the help of the show's five gay consultants. While touring his Staten Island apartment, style gurus Thom Filicia and Carson Kressley tried on Verdi's uniform shirt.

The Daily News reported Thursday that Port Authority officials said Verdi didn't get clearance to say he was a police officer on television, and that he shouldn't have let a civilian wear his uniform.

But DiFulco said it's OK with the Port Authority for its cops to be stylish when it's off the clock. "The officer did this on his own time. We have no issue with this."

On the show, the style team took Verdi to have a pedicure, gave his pale feet a spray tan and taught him how to cook a quiche for his vegetarian girlfriend.

"It was good entertainment," Port Authority Police Benevolent Association President Gus Danese told the News. "What he did, he did on his own time. He didn't portray the Port Authority in a bad light. It was harmless."

The episode is scheduled to be re-aired on NBC on Thursday at 10 p.m.

Girl I don't really get into Disney but I like "Thats's So Raven" its actually a pretty good show on Saturdays. There are times I am like that isn't quite the reaction I would expect from you typical AA family .;) ;) , but I still like the show!
It's funny what yall said about Ashanti. I asked my class today who was overrated? They were like Ashanti she can't dance or sing. God forbid they ever see those pictures of her.

RedefinedDiva 08-21-2003 08:24 PM

I love "That's So Raven!" I do think that she tends to overact sometimes, though....

Breaking news....

As just reported on the Atlanta local news, the King of R&B himself, Mr. Bobby Brown is in jail again. He was picked up in a Alpharetta (a northern suburb where he and Whit-less have a house) resturant for parole voilations in DeKalb County.

Poor Booby....I mean Bobby...

eta:
An Alpharetta police office was just interviewed and he said Bobby did not seem suprised. Turns out that the management in the resturant turned them in. They were having a "cozy dinner" and the manger called the po-lice and said "Hey, Ain't ch-all lookin' for Bobby Brown? Well he's here!!" (Dang, how cold can you be? Seems like it was a nice resturant, wonder if they paid the bill? Remind me never to go there if I have outstanding warrents! LOL) Anyway, said officer mentioned that while Bobby was calm Whitney "verbally indicated her displeasure with the matter." and that "she was quite vocal." It was funny the way he was discribing it. And the cop was a brother too, which made it funnier

FREE BOBBY BROWN!! FREE BOBBY BROWN!! NO JUSTICE! NO PEACE!!

OF course they replayed the infamous "It wasn't really that much marijauna. It was like a joint or something!" statement that Bobby made when he got out of jail in DeKalb County the LAST time! This is really cracking me up.....
