Rerushing advice!

Ahh I am worried about my outfit now ha, it didn't seem too costumey, or so I thought! What if I wore a black sweater over the top? Like one of those half-length, little cover up sweaters if anybody knows what I am talking about. I originally had another outfit planned but one girl I know that is in a sorority said not to wear pants another one said it is fine so I might as well ask you alls opinion ha!

My suggestion when that happens (one sorority says pants are ok, another doesn't) is to go with a dress because hey, better safe than sorry. That outfit is cute (except those shoes are too much for a sorority recruitment event), but a dress is safer.

I feel like the dress is too costume-y too and I'm not sure a shrug sweater would look particularly good with it. One thing you can do to tone it down is to make sure your hair/make up/nails are as neutral and girl-next-door as possible, and that whatever shoes you choose are plain. In other words, don't show up in that dress with red lipstick and super shellacked hair a la stage make up. Subtle neutral eyeshadow and a natural hair style could balance it out.

I agree. I think that the dress, *especially* with a cardigan or a shrug, screams "I Love Lucy".

As you describe the process, I can see why you felt pressured to join too quickly. Am I to understand that you were offered 2 bids after a general informational session? That would freak me out too. If you could jump into my wayback machine I'd recommend you ask them if you could attend a few events before committing, but also not declining either offer. Alas, I live too far away to let you in my wayback machine.

I also say the dress was too cutesy, but not seeing you in the dress on your campus, it's hard to say. You want to look nice, but comfortable and seasonally appropriate. Don't over think it. And this is yet another reason why I'm glad I don't live where there's cold weather. I can put on the same cocktail dress in January or July and be fine.

Thanks DubaiSiS, and yeah in hindsight I also wish I had just asked them to go to dinner one night at their house or something but alas I did not do that! (and the shoes in that picture are too much, I agree)

The only other option I can go with is a sweater dress that I have since most of my dresses, while nice, are too summery or flashy (for a party) and would look out of season or out of place ha here is an example of my sweater dress!
EXCEPT my dress is not a turtle neck! simple like "tshirt" neckline

She rushed in the spring, so I'm guessing it's assumed that the people doing informal rush have met some of the women in sororities at some point. It's no different than being invited to an open bid party and being offered a bid afterwards.

If she didn't say "I want to get to know the sisters better before I decide" or go to any of the other parties that was her mistake. I also wonder if she's confusing bids with invitations to invite-only events.

soca15, if you're worried about chilly legs, I would go with the purple dress, tights and shoes. The polka dot ones are too summery - even if you're in a warm climate it is still January.
