The fact that to my younger cousins, iPods/mp3 players have always been in existence.

Might not be old in the scheme of things, but being 23 (24 in less than a month) and a college graduate around people who are just turning 21 makes me feel old. Most of my friends my own age went to grad school elsewhere, so only my younger friends are left and it does get old being the mom all the time.

I saw ads for the new Hawaii 5-0 tv show. I remember the old Hawaii 5-0 show. Sigh.

I think this qualifies...
One week shy of my 49th birthday, I receive in the mail an AARP card.

During a convo with two coworkers last week...
Coworker 1 (to Coworker 2): "Sometimes you feel like it, sometimes you don't."
Me: "Yeah, and sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't."
Coworker 2: (laughs)
Coworker 1: (WTF look on her face)
Me (to Coworker 1): "You have no idea what I'm talking about, do you..."
Coworker 1: "Nope!"

I went into a music store yesterday, and as I was browsing, a twentysomething who worked there asked if I needed help. I explained that I was looking for a Bauhaus CD, so he asked, "Like the school of architecture?"

We were having a particularly good inning at bat, and I said "Lost Boys, we got 'em on the run!" and a few of the kids* on the softball team had no idea what I was referencing.
*and by "kids" I mean teens & college-age.

I remember having a convo one time with a woman who was upset that she felt pressured to get a cell phone for her 12 year old daughter because she is outside so much with her friends.

Hey, I'm impressed that a twentysomthing working in a CD story (they still have those?) knew what the Bauhaus school was. And you could have answered "Exactly like that. They named themselved after the Bauhaus school of architecture."

HA! You're all babes in the woods, I tell you...mere pups.
I started college when we had Hair Dryers that looked like a cone shaped communications device from outer space, and we listened to The Lovin Spoonful, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Smokey Robinson, Otis Redding, and Junior Walker and the All Stars on our "hi-fi" in the sorority house.
By the time I graduated we were rockin' it to the Doors and Jimi Hendrix.
I had a serious collection of hip hugging bell bottoms. And hair in a long center part flip.
I can remember the entire opening song from the Mickey Mouse Club. ( I usually just hum that until I can remember my children's names. That's so I don't have to say "Who are you people and why are you here?")
Seriously, I can still remember the phone numbers at the DG House at FSU. And the street address. I can't remember MY address, but I remember 143 North Copeland. And the moment I opened up my envelope on Bid Day.
And it still brings a smile to my face!

-The transition from the old folks saying "Boyfriend? What do you need a boyfriend for? Focus on your studies," to asking "So when are you going to get married?"
-Went through the calendar with my students on September 11th and realized that they hadn't been born yet on 9-11-01.
-The fact that my students don't know its special to have a Black president- it's the first presidency they remember.
-Having to explain to the kids why I draw TVs with "two little sticks on top" (antennae).
-My profession in general.
