A really good less calorie option to the rueben is to swap the corned beef with really thick slices of tomato. You still get the great flavors of the rye bread, sauerkraut and dressing, but without the meat (which I realize isn't a concern for 95% of you, but it's still tasty and marginally healthier).

Before anyone knocks this, try it - it's WONDERFUL!

I love plain old eggsalad (the plainer, the better) on homemade white bread.

YUM!

BLTs are great. Extra crispy bacon on white bread with a little mayo. It's too fattening though.

I found this place called Hannah's Bretzel and my favorite sammy is:

Wild Alaskan smoked salmon
cream cheese
capers
thinly sliced red onion
roma tomatoes
a little dill sauce
on a bretzel (pretzel bread)

At home I make turkey sandwiches with very thinly shaved turkey, lettuce, roma tomatoes, red onion, cucumbers, avocado, sprouts on whole wheat with a little mayo and dijon.

Martin's potato bread because of my allergies..
turkey
lettuce
tomatoes if it's summer and they don't have e-coli
cheddar cheese slice
no spread

or...when in Philly

a cheesesteak made w/ cheese wiz (the only other contender is provolone, but it is an impostor. Real cheese steaks have cheese wiz)

Totally agree on the grilled cheese. Love them. I used to go to a place that would put four different kinds of cheeses on it for you, so I'd mix it up and try different kinds - colby jack, provolone, muenster, cheddar, mozzerella, pepperjack, swiss, etc. It was awesome.

I also like french dip sandwiches. And I've rarely met a cheeseburger that I don't like.

I'm pretty basic when I'm making stuff to run out the door if I'm packing a lunch though - ham and cheese on wheat, smoked turkey and cheese on wheat. The only things that change are the type of ham/turkey and cheese.

I am afraid I have outgrown grilled cheese.

I like veggie burgers- including chik'n burgers.

Otherwise, veggie subs. The veggie Sammies at Quiznos are delicious and taste very Mediterranean.

My fave's are

1. Choke and Slide (aka Peanut butter/Jelly on whole wheat) must have chocolate milk with this
2. Egg salad with Light Mayo on WW bread. No relish, onions and all that
3. Burger: Med Well with bacon, mushrooms cheddar, ketchup and mayo. The sloppier the better on u guessed it a WW bun.
4. Chicken Sandwich: Chick Fil A sans pickle

and a goood Corned Beef Special piled high enough that you think I am willing to share, but low enough for you to see I won't

Oh and I am a native that DOESN'T do Wiz on my cheesesteaks...Only Provolone..and it is an acceptable subsitution.

Panera's veggie sandwich is quite tasty

From their website ...
"Mediterranean Veggie:
Zesty Peppadew™ piquant peppers, feta cheese, cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and cilantro hummus on our Tomato Basil bread."
