But I think it has a lot to do with the environment on your campus. Mizzou's system is very competitive- Kiki can back me up when I say the first question, without fail, a guy will ask you is if you're in a house, and if so, which one. Using my org to determine whether or not to talk to me is absolutely GHEY. It's been my experience here that while the greek guys have been fun to party with, as I grew up and distanced myself a little from my chapter, non-greeks were a much better fit for me.

Yeah I am totally with you on this one hon. I love Mizzou, I love our competitive (if not slightly screwed up) greek system, and I love my chapter. However after 3 years of hearing "are you in a house? oh yeah, which one?" and then either getting dissed b/c my house doesn't get along with his or getting molested b/c our houses are friends with each other and he thinks it's his RIGHT b/c all Phi Mu girls love to hook up with XYZ boys. (If anyone reads my LJ they know EXACTLY what house I am talking about...muaahaha

) Anyway...
A guy being greek to me really is not that huge of a deal. Sure, it's fun to run back and giggle with your sorority sisters about the totally hot guy you kissed the night before who is the PRESIDENT of DEF over on College Ave. and omg you just can't do any better than this guy. Doesn't matter if he's a total d-bag, the fact that he is president of his chapter which is strong on our campus seems to be enough for many girls I know. After my freshman year though the novelty of "frat boys" wore off more and more.
Now I am at a point where I like a guy a lot, he happens to be greek and I met him b/c our houses were paired together for greek week one year. do I like him solely b/c he's a member of XYZ? Hell no, I like him b/c of his awesome personality and beautiful blue eyes.
Greeks at Mizzou are just...I don't know, they're different. Some girls and guys never grow out of the phase where they are obsessed with greek life. I, along with the majority of my friends, however have gotten over it. I'm friends with who I want to be, and I date who I want. I actually prefer if the guy ISN'T in a house and if he is, I like him to be older and not as active.
You can pick freshman out anywhere though on our campus b/c the first question out of their mouths when they're trying to hit on someone is "So are you in a house?" Honestly if I had a freakin quarter for everytime I've been asked that I'd be a damn millionaire.
Wow, ok sorry I didn't mean to totally go off and rant, but I guess this topic just kind of gets me riled up and I think I am reading way too much into it haha. I am just going to go to bed now...and probably delete this post later on when I realize how crazy I sound.
