I get very nervous about this, I will admit. I can make myself nowadays, but I stress.

Warning, TMI ahead!

So I'm Christmas shopping tonight, and normally when I'm at the mall, when I have to use the bathroom I don't use the busy mall bathrooms because they're just plain NASTAY. I try to go in "nice" places like Macy's or Neimans or whatever.

So I go to Neiman Marcus to go take a leak. Someone runs into the bathroom and proceeds to do a number 2 and I'm like holy isht. It wasn't one of those discreet unloadings either. It was loud and proud and this person obviously had something bad to eat for dinner.

Let me tell you, it's hard to keep quiet and not laugh when an explosion comparable to that of Mt. St. Helens is going on in the stall next to you...in Neiman-freaking-Marcus no doubt. I thought I was going to throw up.

I finished my business, washed my hands, and ran out of that bathroom because I wanted to spare that person the humiliation of having to look me in the face.

Me too!! Mr. AXO Alum is like "there are the mall bathrooms" and I'm like "nuh-huh....get me over to Dillards" -- and he'll say "but you are about to wee-wee on yourself, and Dillards is across the mall" -- so he laughs at me doing the wee-wee walk quickly as possible across the mall to get to a "cleaner" bathroom.

LMBO at the other part of your story, OTW -- reminds me of the horrible scene in Big Momma's House with her being loud and proud!

My first husband wouldn't go in public places, but he couldn't eat in restaurants either.

May those of you who can't go in public NEVER get Crohn's Disease! First thing I do when I go somewhere new is find out where the loo is. At work, I know which restrooms are the least used and try to go to those.

I can go at school provided I have to go BAD and the bathroom is in a far off corner with no one else in it. But I will NEVER EVER go at a friends (not even best friends) house or bf's house. I just can't. Even if I was dying, I'd rather like, fake sick and go home. I didn't realize other girls wouldn't go at bf's houses--- this poses quite a problem, no? It's so annoying. And they're _guys_ for crying out loud, poop doesn't faze most men in the least. It's us women who are afraid of it. Men would probably just laugh at us if then even cared!!! Hopefully by the time I get married (if ever) I will have outgrown this childishness!!

I generally avoid public restrooms, if I can help it, but not to the point where I won't just suck it up and deal when it becomes necessary. In my university experience, I've never shared a bathroom with more than 4 people at a time, so I guess I'm kind of spoiled there. I really don't have a problem going at other people's houses, unless their bathroom is kind of nasty (sadly, I've seen it).
I *really* have issues going anywhere when I know that someone's within hearing range. If it's only me and one other person in a very quite public restroom, I wait until they're washing their hands or have left. I don't know why...

I am on the list most of the time. I try my best not to go though. It just seems weird. However when I was dorming I had no choice but to go but when I knew other girls were around I would feel awkward about going so I'd wait.

My work has a NO #2 in the toilet policy - cuz our toilet backs up so easily.

ETA: I dispize public restrooms because they usually smell really bad and look worse. I thought as women we'd be cleaner, but obviously that only applies at home.

Okay, first a story: When I was a freshman, a student at my school died of a blockage because he hadn't poohed in a week. His intestines burst and the bacteria killed him or something, it was quite sudden and sad actually. But my parents, who are teachers there, got in the habit of checking up on my bathroom habits. How embarrassing is that for a 21 year old?

Anyways, I used to not be able to pooh anywhere that wasn't where I was living at the time. Then, I lived in a fraternity house for a year, and they had no qualms about picking the lock and coming in to take a shower while you're in there. But man, there were only two family style bathrooms in that house (one on each floor) and a stall style with (2 stalls in the basement), the line at parties was ridculous, because they only let people use the first floor. Once I really, really had to go, and since I lived there, I ran upstairs, but it was occupied. So, I ended up using the convenience store on the corner's bathroom, and my public restroom "perfromance anxiety" was cured.

My best friend and I went down to Tampa to visit her boyfriend (before I went to school down there) and neither of us could go at their place, we used to "go to the pool" and would walk about a block over to the pool to use the public bathrooms there (which were very nice and 99.9% of the time empty).

I so hear you.....Hotel Bathrooms are preferable to public bathrooms too (a good tip when you are exploring a new city on foot as a tourist).

anyway,

i wish sometimes that i can wait until i get home. however, there are times when i have to go while at school. i dont like other people knowing that i have to go #2. so what i do is put tissue in the toilet first so it works as a cushion and it is quiet. LOL at least no one is the wiser

My boyfriend calls this "pooh shy!" And yes, I can't go in public places if someone is near. I also can't use a single stall bathroom
cause I would just about die if someone was waiting to use the bathroom and I walked out after poohing! However, I can go in public bathrooms if they are clean and if I am the only person in the bathrooms. But I really try not to.

Smiley21~ I like your method...I might try it sometime if I really have to go!
