How could I have forgotten my favorite?? I've gotten this at least a dozen times since I was laid off a few months ago...

Why don't you take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to take some time off and have a baby?

If someone ever says something like this to me they will most likely die.

Is your hair natuarlly curly?
No, it's 2002 and I'm still getting the spiral perm!!!

So, you think he's THE ONE?
Yes, but that does not mean we are getting married tomorrow!

When are you moving home?
(Insert family member's name), probably never. New York is my home now.

You're a dancer? Like, topless?!?
Um, NO! Like classically trained!!!!!!

Haha...I can't believe I forgot one too!

(asked to us the DAY AFTER our wedding, at the gift opening): When are you going to start having kids? Not anytime soon, buttmuch....I just got married yesterday!!!! And I'm only 23....and still in school! I would like to finish school and start a career before having kids!

Everytime I call my mom and tell her I have good news, the first words out of her mouth are....."Are you giving me my first grandchild?!" She is WAY too excited for us to have kids! I told her that she would know when we call to tell her we're pregnant...cause Art's dad would be on the line too! LOL! I shudder to think how excited she'll get if we 3-way call her and Art's dad....but not for a pregnancy! :P

Talking

- Where are you from?
(I don't have a country-azz accent like everyone else down here...incidently, I am from Atlanta, lol)

- Are you Puerto Rican?
No.

- Is that your boyfriend?
Talking about my best friend. He wishes, but alas...he is gay. Actually the answer depends. If it is a guy that is asking me that because he wants me, then yes, that IS my boyfriend, lol.

- Do you sing?
I think people ask this because I have a deep sultry voice. I DO sing...but I am not any good at it, lol.

- Are you an athelete?
Used to be...not anymore. I am assuming people ask me this because of the way I carry myself. I still have a little bit of tomboy in me.

- Are you a model? (And yes, people have asked this question and the one before it in the same convo, lol)
People are always telling me I have a "model-look". I am hoping they mean that I am pretty, and not waifishly thin and strung-out looking, lol.

Since your father and brother are preachers, are you going to be a preacher too?

You're in a sorority? Are you an AKA?

What's a multicultural sorority?

(A guy asking this...) Can I join your sorority?

Why does your family call you by your middle name?

What are you going to do with a Psychology degree?

You work at the Law School? Can you advise me on a case?

Are you as innocent as you look?

Is that your real hair?

"Aren't you so happy your husband allows you to stay home with the kids?"
Yeah, I'm such a princess staying home eating Doritos and watching the Lifetime Channel

When my husband was deployed overseas..."Do you miss him?"
Miss him? Why would I miss him just because he's been gone 6 months???

"Are you going to have another baby so you can try for a boy?"
Um, no? That's really a stupid question.

"Are those your real lips?"
Yes, they're mine. I bought them in the used lip aisle at Target.

"Isn't it great that John is willing to babysit the girls once a week so you can go out with your girlfriends?"
Babysit??? They're his children, too! How do you babysit your own kids??

What year are you in college? I'm a senior.

Eeeek. You're a senior?! I feel bad for you because the job market is so bad! What's your major? Marketing

Wow...jeez...I really feel bad for you because they lay-off the marketing people first. Do you have a job lined up? Nope.

Don't you think you should start looking? I've looked, no one's hiring.

Wow...I'm so glad I graduated a long time ago/I'm not graduating anytime soon. Thanks, I really appreciate it....

So, what's your major?
History and music education.

Oh, Music History.
No, European history and music education.

What instrument do you play?
Lyric Soprano Vocal Chords.

Huh?
I sing.

So you wear Viking horns and sing opera?
No, believe it or not, there are other types of music and other degrees. I'm majoring in music education.

So what are you going to do with that?
With an education degree? I think I'll be a plumber.

Wow, is that a real tattoo?
Yes.

So you're gonna have it forever?
Um, that's the idea.

Did it hurt?
No, not at all. Best feeling I've ever had.

K... K... um, T? What's that?
Kappa Kappa Gamma, my sorority.

Oh my god, you're in a sorority?
No, I just thought I'd get a random set of Greek letters tattooed on my ankle for kicks.

But I never thought that someone like you would be in a sorority. Aren't you too smart for that?
(If the inquirer is someone I know, this is usually answered with a dirty look.)

So, do you live in a sorority house with lots of hot women and booze?
No, we're not housed. We all live in the dorms.

Why not? Aren't you a real sorority?
Yes, we are. We're a residential campus and our school doesn't have housing specifically for Greeks. Like all other campus groups, we can apply for a house if we want one.

So you live in an apartment then?
What part of "residential campus" don't you understand? No, I live in the dorms.

Well why don't you move off-campus?
I'm not allowed to, and besides, I like it here.

So you must like the Packers, then?
No, just because I happen to go to school 30 minutes south of Green Bay doesn't mean that I bleed green & gold like the rest of this insane state.

Do you eat cheese all the time?
Yes, with every meal.

Is that your brother?
Yes.

Why doesn't he look like you? Is he your stepbrother?
No, he's my real brother. He happens to be adopted.

Oh, from Korea/Japan/Vietnam/the ghettos of Chicago?
No, from Paraguay. That's in South America.

I get it, so his mother was black?
Um, no. Thank you, drive thru.

Why are you still living with your parents? Because they live 10 minutes from where I work, I have loans to pay off, I graduated SIX MONTHS AGO, I'm 22 and trying to save up for a new car and a house on my own thankyouverymuch, anywhere I'd rent would be at least 45 minutes from work and hella expensive, I'm NEVER home ANYWAY, and I don't have anyone to live with because everyone made plans for their living arrangements before I had a job so what was I going to do, make them wait to see if I ended up employed? Or I can pay $800 a month to live in the ghetto by myself when it's farther away from work and I'd be home even less...

There's no way you could've lost that much weight without doing something, what's your secret? I'm not starving myself, I don't spend 10 hours a day exercising, and I'm not taking pills. I get off my ass and watch what I put in my mouth, although that would probably kill your social life.

Why didn't you go to law school? Didn't you do well on the LSAT? I scored amazingly well, but you're still not going to believe me unless I give you a number, and then when I tell you and insist that I'm still not going, you're going to get pissed and act like I'm bragging.

Why don't you have a boyfriend? I don't know, because the fact that I'm single and female doesn't necessarily make men flock to me, nor does it make me desperate enough to hook up with anyone who's handing it out? Maybe I actually want to try to find a guy who's right for me instead of trying to find anyone who'll take me?

grr...

Thanks! If you think that's good, you should hear my rants when I'm not at work trying to be all respectable and mature.
