the reason i am so upset about the republican gov. in mass is the circumstances surrounding HIM and not his entire political group. he moved out of mass to salt lake city and didn't pay taxes at all in mass, and then ran for gov when he moved back- ILLEGAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you have to be a citizen of a state for a length of time (certain # of years) before you can run. he got out of it by saying "well i owned land here".. it went up for vote andt hey let him run... what the hell, he should pay mass the taxes he owes us

Even though I'm a liberal, I'm trying to look on the bright side here, so I'll borrow my friend Keith's political philosophy for the time being. Keith says, "The more Republicans they have in office, the faster they'll screw everything up. The faster they screw things up, the faster the people will rebel and start voting for Democrats instead. So vote Republican!"

All of you on either side that are whining.....Did you vote? There are still a hell of a lot of people that nver vote. Don't complain if you don't vote. Two years ago proved your vote can make a difference.

The economy runs in cycles. It was at it's top cycle under Clinton, but was already showing it's natural sign of decline. Bush took office with an economy that was already slowing.

His tax cuts were an effort to encourage economic growth by putting more spending money in the hands of consumers.

By the time he's up for reelection, the cycle will be on the upswing.

I'm very happy that we cleaned house. Many analysts have pointed out that the Dems counted on minority votes and misjudged the "party loyalty" factor. The minority vote, which has favored liberals and big govt., can no longer be counted on if there isn't SUBSTANCE behind the candidate and issues to address. A very big mistake in judgment by the Dems. Last night on the Factor, the head of the NAACP Kweisi Mfume, discussed these very issues and is in agreement.

Economy-this is one hell of a wave, but I agree it will (hopefully) recover within 2 years.

I'm most excited about the Supreme Court picks. We should be able to place some more conservative minds.

This will delay Hillary's run for another term. Maybe by then she will slither off into the foot notes of history. Bill can go Bye-bye as well. NO MORE GEPHARDT!!! Perhaps Daschle will find another pair of coat tails to ride-let him lick his wounds in peace.

Big question-who will the Dems bring forward-Gore, Kerry, Lieberman???

I'm sick of TAXES and I'm sick of BIG GOVERNMENT. This is the BEST thing that could have happened (IMO of course). WWIII-Perhaps if Clinton and his party had been more concerned with foreign affairs rather than love affairs, we wouldn't be at this juncture.

I will add-had George #1 finished the job when he had the chance, we would be in a better place. He was WRONG to stop short. That's another thread...

I've voted in every election since I've been old enough to.

There isn't one person or group that is solely in charge of the economy, I just hope it recovers soon. I'm a college senior looking for a job.

In the end, it doesn't matter all that much if the democrats or republicans control the government. The days of those two parties having deep ideological differences are over and now it's becoming more difficult to tell the two apart.

Yeah, I'm pretty upset about Romney in MA, if you want to be governor of a state then it should be your primary residence where you pay the appropriate taxes. Although he is (from what I've heard here in PA) pro choice and more liberal than most conservatives in this country. Maybe it won't be so bad. At least Jane Swift is no longer there.

Turnout was actually around 50% here in Oklahoma pretty good by national standards. I voted... Students for the most part (at least the ones I know) for the most part didn't vote because they live out of town and don't know how to do absentee ballots.

Shes, I had hoped that that Marijuana Party was going to sweep the election. Oh well. Here hoping for a third party soon. I doubt it, as both Demo and Repub are bought.

JAM, if you really want to end to big government, vote libetarian. Republican and their homeland security sounds like the KGB to me.

I don't vote for either republicans or dems, and some say its throwing your vote away.

As someone with pretty strong Libertarian leanings I'll have to say that voting your heart IS wasting your vote. We tend to differ the most with Democrats and least with Republicans (except on social issues where neither party really impresses me). Voting Republican is the lesser of two evils and voting for no-chance 3rd party candidates.. well you may as well not vote. That's why we now (by only 6000 votes) have a Dem Governor here in Oklahoma. The 3rd party got 14% and 140,000 votes... Many which would have gone to the Republican candidate.

Here in NY voter turnout was the lowest ever, approx. 32% of (registered I believe) voters showed up.

Granted some of that is due to an increase in voter registration, without a corresponding rise in VOTING. People here just dont think that their vote will count anymore.
