D. Misrepresentation by the media.
E. Lack of focus on the organization's ideals.
F. Lack of support by University officials.
G. Other problem (please specify)
It's E for me. All of the other problems stem from this one problem.

A smart person once said that if you don't know where you've come from, you can't remember where you've been, nor see where you're headed.

A greater focus on the WHYs of greek life would help ameliorate the problematic WHATs and HOWs and WHOs.

This a great thread!

It is so very hard to pigeon hole just one item. They are all so inter-twined! One deffinally leads to each and everyone!
If choosing, I would choose D as there is so much negative things said about the Greek Community as a whole that all of it gets in the press! There of course and will be some morons who think they must live up to the things being said about us! The schools read these same items and feel that the Greeks on campus must be loaded in to the same boat.
If it is pointed out what we do on campus and the envolvement by Greeks, they may think again, but probably not.

I would have to F at Cal Poly. Our officials would love if all greeks just died on campus, and they do everything in their power to crush us...

Both E and F. Our university is totally unsupportive, and individual chapters have a lot of internal problems.

I personally and really torn between D and E.
With more emphasis on D-leading to the decline of University help and Nationals being so liable-- just a few short years a specific greek was mudered on our campus at a fraternity party by non-greek students and the blame was put on the greeks and not students as a whole. As a punishment and an effort to "clean" up the greek system all of the fraternity houses are now completely dry and all GLOs were put on suspension. It was a truly tough time for greeks, losing one of our own and then being punished for someone else's crime. The death of the greek student then also enacted a Task Force for a 100 mile radius of campus to crack down on and I quote "greek mischief" commonly labeled for better governmental purposes as "the cut down on uder age drinking".
As for E- I just believe that more brothers and sisters need to stand more true to their ideals (keeping true secrets, learning all they can about their GLO AND learning about the greek system as a whole) and it would bring the national greek life, not just the individual GLO life, back to the closeness it once had, making being greek a truly special thing seen not just in the members eyes but in the public as well.
That's just my 2 cents for the day, sorry it was so long-- It happened to hit sore spot in me.
