Ice Cube Against Oprah
Ice Cube Joins Voices Against Oprah
By Associated Press
NEW YORK - Rappers Ludacris and 50 Cent have dissed Oprah Winfrey. Now, Ice Cube has a beef with the talk show queen.
"I've been involved in three projects pitched to her, but I've never been asked to participate," the rapper-actor tells FHM magazine in its July issue, on newsstands June 6.
"For 'Barbershop,' she had Cedric the Entertainer and Eve on, but I wasn't invited," says the 36-year-old rapper, referring to his 2002 movie. "Maybe she's got a problem with hip-hop."
Cube adds: "She's had damn rapists, child molesters and lying authors on her show. And if I'm not a rags-to-riches story for her, who is?"
A call by The Associated Press to Winfrey's spokeswoman at her production company, Harpo, was not immediately returned Friday.
Last month, 50 complained that Winfrey rarely invites rappers on her talk show: "I think she caters to older white women." Ludacris, whose real name is Chris Bridges, told GQ magazine that the media mogul was "unfair" to him during a show he appeared on last October with co-stars from best-picture Oscar winner "Crash."
Earlier this month, Winfrey defended herself in a surprise appearance on New York City-based radio station Power 105.1.
"I listen to some hip-hop," she told DJ Ed Lover. "You know, I've been accused of not liking hip-hop and that's just not true. I got a little 50 (Cent) on my iPod. I really do. Love 'In Da Club.' ... Love that, and you know, love Jay-Z, love Kanye (West), love Mary J. (Blige)."
Ice Cube, whose other films include "Friday" and "Three Kings," will release his latest album, "Laugh Now, Cry Later," on June 6.

Ummmm....how about OPRAH?!
Sorry, Cube. Oprah wrote, directed, produced, and has starred in what can be considered THE rags-to-riches story of a lifetime, better known as her own life. Oprah came from next to nothing to damn near owning the world. Oprah is my inspiration, especially after the Legends Ball.
Why does everyone wanna hate Oprah? Get your own talk show and you can invite whomever you want!

Get a life O'Shay Jackson
I am with you Redefined. Oprah can choose to like who and what she wants to and so can you or I. It is her show and she can endorse whomever or whatever she wants to. I watched the show with Luda twice and she was not unfair to him. She just expressed her opinion of him using the n-word in his lyrics...period. Just because you share a culture with someone does not mean that you have to automatically agree with anything that person does. I am sick of all the hating on Oprah. She will continue to be one of the people that I admire the most

With the exception of Tempestt, Rolanda had a four-year run with her show. Jenny Jones was on air for over 12 years. She would probably still be on had it not been for that lawsuit.

These rappers are being ridiculous. As if every black person is supposed to like/appreciate hip hop. Oprah is not from the hip-hop generation anyway. Not to mention that most of the topics on Oprah's show are about improving the lives/stature of women. How is she going to have some rapper on there who's hit songs are derogatory to women? That would be hyprocrital.

Man Fails to Pay for Gas; Owner Shoots
By Associated Press
LIVINGSTON, La. - Deputies arrested a store owner accused of shooting out two tires on a customer's vehicle after the customer said he had no money to pay for gasoline, spokesman Jason Ard of the Livingston Parish Sheriffs Office said Thursday.
The motorist had pumped $36.50 worth of gasoline, then discovered he didn't have the money to pay for it, Ard said. An argument with the store owner followed.
When the motorist tried to leave, the grocery store owner fired a shot that hit one of the customer's tires, then fired a second shot into another tire after the driver pulled back into the parking lot, deputies said.
Deputies booked Nardeep S. Bhullar, 25, the owner of Singhs Grocery, with aggravated assault, criminal damage to property and illegal discharge of a firearm.
Deputies also booked Chaz R. Watkins, 18, of Holden with theft of gasoline, Ard said

You know how rappers are. I honestly think they are just mad b/c they know if they are on Oprah it will be great publicity. They don't think about their lyrics and how misogynistic they are, and they don't think about how 95% of Oprah's audience is women. True, white middle America buys most of their albums, but they could care less about how we are destroying ourselves. At least Oprah is putting positive things on the air. Then, even if Oprah did put them on they would have a hissy fit when she asked them about their lyrics. Rap has ALREADY gone to hell in a handbasket and I'm glad Oprah had nothing to do with it.

Man throws 2 kids, self off 15th floor of hotel
Man throws 2 kids, self off 15th floor of hotel
Family vacation ends tragically for children, ages 4 and 8; mom unhurt
Updated: 7:38 p.m. ET May 27, 2006
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - A man killed his two young children Saturday by throwing them off the 15th floor of a landmark South Beach hotel and then jumped to his own death, police said.
Edward Van Dyk, 43, tossed his two sons, ages 4 and 8, to their deaths around 8:20 a.m., Miami Beach Police spokesman Bobby Hernandez said. Authorities did not release the names of the two boys.
The mother of the children, Qinuo Van Dyk, 40, told police she and her husband had been having marital problems for the past six months, but hadn’t argued right before the incident, Hernandez said.
The woman heard one of her children screaming from an adjacent room in the Loews Hotel, where the Alton, Ill., family was staying. When she walked into the room she saw her husband going off the balcony, Hernandez said.
She looked over the railing and saw her husband and her two children lying on a mezzanine roof that is about two floors above the ground.
Celebrating 10th anniversary
Hernandez said that despite the marital problems, the family had been celebrating the couple’s 10th wedding anniversary.
“It’s a terrible tragedy. It’s unfortunate that this gentleman was so selfish and in an effort to get back at his wife he took the two most loved people in the world away from her,” Hernandez said.
Hernandez said the woman did not know why her husband, a radiologist at Alton Memorial Hospital, killed the children and himself.
“There was no indication that he would be capable of doing something as horrible as this,” Hernandez said.
People in neighboring rooms said they did not hear any noises, Hernandez said.
A Loews Hotel spokeswoman in Miami would not comment.
