Even though I said we'd wait until opening weekend was over, we ended up seeing it yesterday because the Boy and the kid could not wait.
I think it depends on how old the kid is. Ours is only 3, so all he pays attention to is the robot. I enjoyed the themes, and am glad that Disney/Pixar went that route.
Makes me want to go rent "Hello, Dolly!" now!

Yeah, those of us that remember the 80s know that this movie has already been done - and it was called Short Circuit.

I went to see the movie yesterday and it seemed to me more of a slow moving social/political commentary.

I saw it today with my little sisters. I loved it. While I understood the "social commentary" (the fact that the humans did nothing, incredibly lazy and incredibly, how to put this nicely, overweight), I doubt my sisters did. Either way I thought the movie was cute. Wall-e was adorable (is that the right word?).

I'm hesitant to see it. My friend went and didn't like it much. I'm not sure I'm willing to pay for a movie if it's not awesome, so I might wait for PPV.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall - E! LOL

I agree that it is the least kid friendly but I thought it was cute.

My wife and kids (10 and 7) saw it Sunday; I couldn't go with them. They all liked it okay, but I didn't get the sense that any of them loved it. We had polled a bunch of college-aged friends before going to see it: They were pretty evenly divided between those who liked it and those who really hated it. Many thought that the social commentary in it was too heavy-handed and too depressing (for children) -- and these are people who are pretty socially-conscious.
All in all, I'm in no hurry to see it; but then, I thought the trailors for it looked boring.

I took my son and two of his cousins to see it (aged 4,5 & 6) and they all liked it. I thought it was okay. However, I did think it was really strange that they gave out plastic junky Wall*E watches. I mean, isn't the point of the movie that we have too much garbage? Yet they gave us junk watches. Odd.

I took my 8 year old nephew on opening night. We both loved it. I thought he might not like it because the themes were definately "heavy." We always talk about the movies and he caught on to the idea that people needed more exercise and with a little prompting got the rest of the messages. I was really impressed with him!

I thought it was pretty cute. I mean, it was no Toy Story, but it was still cute.

While the robots look the same, this move has NOT "already been done."
The plots are in absolutely no way similar, except of course, that they feature robots.
