I was stunned to see that he had died. I also didn't realize how old he was (not that 71 is ancient, but still). It's very unfortunate. The occupation which is comedy just got taken back a notch.

A couple of years ago, my family and I bought tickets for my dad to see George Carlin perform, which he really liked. So sad to hear about him passing...RIP!!

The first time I heard George Carlin was when my boyfriend played the album to me over the phone. I laughed so hard, I cried. We also saw him in concert in Austin around that same time; this was the AM & FM album era.

This was the first news I heard this morning and it made me very sad.

I loved when he told the stories about why he never got sick. He grew up swimming in the East River and was immune to any bacteria
RIP George. Hope there is a stage in heaven big enough for you.

Seven dirty words he taught us not to say on television.

If you don't like the weather --- move.

He did.

The seven dirty words you can't say on television and "A place for my stuff" are my two favorite acts of his. I think of the latter every time I pack to go on vacation. I had them on a tape back when I was in college.

He was the best comedian ever, appealing to many generations over his time with us. He was such a gifted man. He will be missed. RIP George.

I love it when he pondered the English language:
"Is there another word for 'synonym'?" or
"How is it possible......to have a civil war?"

Hands down my favorite comedian ever. I was just thinking a few days ago about how it'd be great to go see him perform again. AGDee, the "stuff" bit is one of my favorites too.

He was one of my idols. I never got to see him live because he cancelled his show at FSU this past year which I was going to pay $200 to see.
