And I have to say, unless the group is using the nickname "Zeta" and their house letters are in a blue, does that really mean they are trying to rip off the entire sorority?

If they had everything in common then I'd probably think differently.

I believe the "bunny" reference is in regards to her being a Playboy bunny... unless that happens to be the mascot of Zeta Alpha Zeta.
When Anna Faris walks up to the house it's in bad shape. The sign at one point said ZETA but the E was missing so it only said Z TA. Then the Z falls on her head.

Damn it! It looks cute. I'll rent it since it'll likely be in stores by Christmas.

TX Princess, I don't think anyone has gotten really worked up about the movie. We've said we wished they had used different letters, but that's about it. Did I miss the "OMG it's so awful" post? I even went so far as to say that it looks better than the average "let's use every stereotype in the book" greek movie, which is insulting more for a lack of creativity than anything else.
Yes, there are only so many combos of letters, but there are plenty that don't reference any NPC sorority at all. "Revenge of the Nerds" managed to avoid any problems. You really think they didn't have any choice but to have Zetas and Phi Mu? The missing e leading to "ZTA" - they HAD to do that? They couldn't have the rivals be Mu Iota Phi? C'mon - someone is having some fun.
This doesn't look like a movie I would want to see no matter what letters they used, but I'm not about to put up a barricade and demand a boycott.

this is the part that i didn't like about it. as a zeta i don't like to see my letters on something like this... i realize that its only a movie and all that, but I don't like the way they put my organizations letters into it like that... they could have found another way to be funny, or use different letters or something. Not cool imo.

Thumbs down I think this is in a way offensive.

I'm a Zeta and I completely agree with this statement. I was watching Greek on ABC when I first saw the commercial and I had to rewind and fast forward the thing like ten times to see it for real. It would of been cool if they had like ZAZ on the house like they do in Greek with ZBZ, but the fact that our letters were perfectly noticable (color and everything, I mean even the girls shirt was steel grey and turquoise) kind of sucks. I think it looks like a cute movie, but I don't want to see my letters associated with something like playboy or the "social misfits" of the campus.

Most 3-letter orgs typically go by the first two letters (e.g. Lambda Chi = Lambda Chi Alpha; Delta Sig = Delta Sigma Phi; etc). I know not all GLOs do that (like Pi Phi for instance), I just find it odd that they would do that and Phi Mu is actually a real organization.
interestingly, we're the only org in D9 that gets a nickname with all 3 of our letters. Well, us and the AKAs but i think that is a little more fluid and natural than saying "SGRs". I notice only guys throw single-letter nicknames at us (Ks and Rhos) and it sounds a little ridiculous.

I have no problem with "THE HOUSE BUNNY". Looks "cutesie" and not "serious" in my opinion.

I do have a problem with the HBO doc., It's really sick. If they (those in the film) think that's "brotherhood" I feel sorry for them.

I've known about this movie for a while. The problem I have is that in the movie at least according to those who have viewed early screenings and imdb.com the Phi Iota Mus are referred to as "Phi Mus" naturally I don't like that. Allegedly nationals knows but I guess there's nothing they can do because it's not technically Phi Mu, but it still offends me. I wish they had just chosen names like Xi Omicron Gamma and Omega Mu Delta or whatever, something that's not too close to actual names!

They should have used any of the names suggested by AKA Monet and xidelt in the "Sorority like this" thread!

Well Pi Beta Phi does go by Pi Phi.

I dont have a problem with the movie I just think its a lil too coincidental for me.

Interesting side note: the women who wrote the script for legally blonde also wrote the script for this movie.

I guess maybe I just don't see how Zeta Beta Zeta or Zeta Alpha Zeta = Zeta Tau Alpha just because they have the greek letter "Zeta" in it.

If anyone should be offended it should be the creators of Zeta Beta Zeta because Zeta ALPHA Zeta is WAY closer to that than it is to Zeta Tau Alpha

I don't really see a problem with the movie from the trailer, it actually looks kinda funny!

Now, I know I may feel differently if they had a sorority called the Thetas or KATs.

I do think everything these days referencing Greeks has to be taken with a grain of salt.

Most of us here know that these are stereotypes (I hope we all know this) and we can usually get a good laugh out of it.

As for the documentary, I stopped watching after few minutes, it was just disgusting!
