Yeah, senior year of high school.

Most of my (girl)friends are feeling the pinch to get married this year, my senior year of college. They're gettin a bit worried cuz most of their friends are married or in the process...or have a baby.

Oh well...

There are a lot of kids in my area who get married right out of high school, and for some dumb ass reason, their parents encourage it. I had a friend at a different high school who knew of a 17 year-old divorcee. That's just insane.

My best friend from jr high was married before we graduated from HS, divorced that summer (I think)....married again a year later or so...again, divorced within about a year, and married a THIRD time by the time she was 22. And her mom didn't do anything to try and dissuade her from it!

I was raised knowing that after high school I was going to college, no question. If I decided I wanted to get married before I graduated, the wedding and any college thereafter was on ME, and if I wanted my parents to help pay for the wedding, it would be AFTER I had a college degree.

I think that for alot of girls who get married at 18-20 or so, they TYPICALLY (I know there are exceptions) don't have college plans after HS, so the idea of marriage after HS is fairly normal. They feel they have no reason to delay marriage, since they're going straight to working a job.

Double post, but gotta love the girl who INSISTS (to the point of argument) on still living with mom and dad (not with hubby) after marriage. She says, "she'll be able to concentrate on school better if she lives at home." Um, what?!

OMG! My husband's best friend has been going through that with his wife for the past 3 1/2 years! For the first 2 years they lived with her parents with their 2 kids. Then, when his job transferred him closer to us, she refused to move away from her parents. Finally, she moved in just this past summer with her husband, but went BACK home after an argument. Now he is in the military and she is giving it another shot and moved last weekend. We'll see how long it lasts.

These people are just stupid and don't even fully understand marriage. I understand that you've been dating a long time, you want to get married, but I think marriage should be a happy occassion. I don't want to get married while my parents are devastated by my choice!
