I dont know how others do it, but We ahve a strong Alum Group that has worked with Our Chapter which was under a rebuilding process with the Help of IHQ.

We also had the Brothers from Chapter from Drury come to do the Ritual as it is very intricant and time consuming with many parts.

They did needless to say did an Outstanding Job.

We have had Alums participate in those Roles that they did when Undergrads and did them very well.

In the instance when Un. Incarnet Word was Colonized, the Brothers from UT. El Paso were there to be of Aid.

They too did an Outstanding job.

In DST the approvals are done at on the national and regional level. The regional officers perform the chartering and use the closest local chapter to assist.

Thanks! My point was that would costs be so high if the traveling consultants didn't have to do all or most of the the work in the colonization effoets. Maybe I just understand what's all involved in this, since you do things differently.

Classes have been over at Howard for quite a few weeks now, so I suspect we won't hear anything until the Fall.

No, it is easy to misunderstand.

Many National Organizations either do not have a paid Traveling Staff or a very small one and those are dependent on Volunteer Alums.

For Example, Kappa Sigma has Regional Alum Volunteers (not sure about paid staff) while LXA has @ 10 who are paid and do visits chapters.

While our ELCs have schedual visits, there are times such as My Chapter that needed help. We had a strong Alum Base, but needed help to recruit. A bunch of Old Alums dont recruit with todays Generation when We relate more to the parents.

Some times, the scheduals can be changed for special situations as ours.

IHQ sent two of our finest ELCs down for Recruitment and did an outstanding job. The Alums then started working with them and the New Associates as in Mentoring each one.

In doing Initiation for the New Associates, We have had Alums help in Ritual, but in this case, The Chapter from Drury, Springfield, Mo. came and did an out standing job as I mentioned.

It worked well as they were the Chapter that Colonized us 40 years ago. 3 Years later, Kansas State, did Our Chartering. It does Help when Chapters are in close proximity.

Alums can do so much, but, there is a time when a larger force is needed and thank goodness, We have one who is there. It is called Our Fellow Brothers.

But, we all must remember, that depeding on how Intricut Your Ritual is, it needs people. If a Chapter is in trouble, growing, or new, it needs people!

Alums can do only so much as We have jobs and familys and are not in close proxmity of the Chapters.

FYI: It costs @ $7,000.00 Minimum to start a Colony. It is not cheap is it?

Now, in Colonization, it is started by HQ People who try to set up a structure and hopefully with a Chapter not to far away to work with them, as I mentioned above with InCanrret Word in San Antonio, and N C A & T.

Hope this helps a bit.

Okay. Thanks! Yes, practices vary so much across Greekdom that it is difficult to understand the rationale for certain statements and practices. This is one reason why some knowledge and understanding of these practices in their particularity is valuable, and why a forum like GC is invaluable.

Yes, in my fraternity, we don't have traveling reps now. Since the real locus of decision making is on the Distirct level and Membership Selection is primarily a District-level activity, this is a normal situation.

Thanks again!

Tri Delt nixes Howard?

heard Delta Delta Delta has decided not to pursue a chapter at
Howard. Posted this a few days ago, but one of the crack moderators must have expunged it. Whatever.
Well, the Howard thing is apparently dying down. Go Pike!

If the Howard U campus opens up for NPC expansion, it will most likely be noted in one of the "expansion" or similarly titled threads.

NPC groups do not "pursue" chapters or campuses. Unless, of course, they wish to be former NPC groups.
