I heard on the news that it was the thrill that motivated them. Had nothing to do with religious beliefs.

Your comment that a Christian is a Christian is a Christian is not only an over-simplification, it is also false. Different denominations believe different things. Some of the differences are minor or cultural, others are deep and important theological differences.

I think you were just trying to say that Christians shouldn't bash each other, and I agree - but to imply that Christians are all the same is absolutely false.

Ok...there are different traditions among Christians, but they are all seeking God and striving to be disciples of Jesus, right? Isn't that the definition of Christianity?

I may be wrong in assuming this but I think her statement in it's simplest form meant when it all comes down to it, regardless of HOW a Christian believes, they all still have the major factor in common. CHRIST/JESUS
Hence, anyone who believes in Christ is a CHRISTian.

I don't want to hijack this thread or get into a theological debate. PJ - I do not agree with your definition of Christianity. I do think Christians can unite over the things we have in common - that we believe Jesus is God, that we should follow Him, etc. But I also believe it makes a great deal of difference HOW we achieve that.

Yes, they said it was a 'joke' taken too far. I have a hard time understanding that, but I don't think they were targeting Baptists in particular. It just so happens that most small churches in Alabama *are* Baptist.

My mom also told me today that both of the BSU guys have been expelled/ suspended. Their actions seem like three bored kids who didn't even bother to think before they did something so stupid and now they are going to pay for it.

This is a story about it from one of the local news stations:http://beta.abc3340.com/news/stories/0306/309141.html
