Permit at 15.
License at 18. I didn't have a car and my best friend didn't mind driving me everywhere, so I didn't see the point in getting it.

I had my permit at 16, took driver's ed, passed it and everything. . . just had some unfortunate incidents happen that kept me away from the DMV for a few years.

Permit at 15.
License at 16.
And made 10 years without getting a ticket...
Then this year I got my first one for speeding There was an ADT van and another car hogging BOTH lanes AND going BELOW the speed limit (I hate it when they are evenly next to each other like that) - as soon as I got a chance I sped up to pass the ADT van, and wham out of nowhere two motorcycle cops showed up. I didn't even bother explaining and just took the ticket. Paid it and moved on with my life

17. Got my first and only speeding ticket at 20. I was doing 30 in a 25 and the campus po-po pulled me over. What can I say? It was a pretty day after days of rain and I was living life in the fast lane!

CT4, don't feel bad.....
.....I got my first license at the age of 22 (Friday, June 14, 1996).
Things happen.
BTW, that was my 3rd attempt to get a license. The first time was in '93, got my temps, no one would let me practice driving, and my temps expired, the 2nd time was in '95, I was practice driving, but no one would let me borrow their car for the exam, so the temps expired again, the 3rd time was in '96, and I had even taken a driving school course. It took 2 tries to get my license, the 1st time I passed maneuverability but failed the road test, the 2nd time I had to bribe someone into using their car by paying $75. It worked, and the rest is history.
ETA: Before I had a car, I rode a bicycle EVERYWHERE through any type of weather (think 40 Year Old Virgin). But I loved my bike. The only reason why I got a car was because it was becoming more of a necessity than a luxury. Looking back, I just didn't think that having a car at 17/18/19 years old without making sufficient money to properly care, maintain, and insure it was a very smart thing to do. So while I did get clowned for riding a bicycle, all things considered, I think it was a good choice.

I still don't have a license, but I have a permit. I took driver's ed in HS, but I never pursued it. So now I am starting over again.

License at 21 years, 3 months. January 2, 1986. I had to get it in order to have an internship with the Los Angeles Times.
