My Sooners are getting an invitation to a bowl this year... the Toilet Bowl!
Even though we got creamed by the Shorthorns on their way to a national chumpionship (and that spelling was deliberate), as long as we beat the Swillwater Cowpokes in the Bedlam game, I'll be happy!
GO TROJANS! BEAT TEXAS!

Just to clear up two common misconceptions:
1 - The bowl "tie-ins" really aren't so much tied to the actual team in that conference position, as they are to the conference itself - the contracts are all different, but generally the terms & conditions allow the bowls to move teams 'up' or 'down' for various reasons (mostly revenue-based; for instance, the Big XII often puts one of the TX teams into the Alamo, bypassing the 'actual' tiebreakers to generate ticket sales).
The moral of the story is that the 'slotting' is more ceremonial than anything, although the higher on the slot order you are the more likely it is to stay set (for instance, the #1s will always hit those bowls barring BCS interference, the #2s almost always, and then the poop hits the fan).
2 - Iowa State does not actually travel all that well (sorry ISUKKG, had to throw that in there).

There's no point in arguing with a Hawkeye fan, especially one such as yourself, because neither of us can ever be totally objective on the subject.
We do fairly well.

I'm just messing with you, dude - it'll be interesting to see how State travels this year though, a ton of my friends are going 'anywhere but Houston' (which makes so little sense to me, but hey). Even after Saturday, it's still been better than most expected - hopefully they sell a ton of tickets.

that is true...the SEC only has one bowl with a restriction and that is the Cap. One Bowl who must take the SEC team with best record (after the team(s) who recieve BCS bid(s)) or a team with a record within 1 game of that team...all the other bowls tied-in with the SEC can pick whoever they chose as long as they are bowl eligible...they are listed in the order that they get to select a team.. for example it is the BCS #1...then the Cap. One Bowl, then Cotton, the Outback...and so on.

I know, hence the "neener" at the end.
I think everyone was gunning for San Antonio (or even San Diego), it's going to be hard to accept going anywhere else. If we were going to be here, I'd make the husband go to another bowl game with me -- hey we could have even done double duty with Iowa, though I would have gone shopping during that game.

Maybe that is why the Holiday bowl doesn't seem that big to us, because it's not on New Years day and is aired on ESPN instead of NBC or ABC. But the Holiday bowl does pay out pretty well. And it does have the PAC 10 #2.

What makes El Paso so shitty?
