This might show my ignorance, but what is a cholo and a chino?
I know I'm from the South and we say funny things like y'all, fixin' to, gonna, etc. but I have never heard those words before so I would like to know what they are.

Goes a little beyond Cheech I'd say...when I think cholo, I think shaved head, oversized white-tee, and baggy-azz dickies with old school nikes. Usually a tat somewhere. (Maybe it's because I teach kids who dress like that.)

then there's always the cholitas...
just imagine a female cholo with eyeliner practically up to her eyebrows, baggy and saggy and generally hanging on a cholo.
as to fighting...breathe and back away.

I can't remember the last time I got into a physical altercation but I am sure it was with my younger sister. Anyways, I do have a bad temper, and especially when mega-problems arise at work. Usually they are not from the clients I work with but other Social Work providers (there is a lot of drama in this field). I reach out for my team members and supervisor to vent and CURSE to when people are really pissing me off. Also, I have started going back to the gym at least 4-5 times a week and that really helps me clear my head. If I know I am having a bad day I try to avoid the office altogether and just stay in the field because it seems like the most problems arise when I go into my office and start answering the ton 'o phone calls I get a day...........Knowing I have a safe space where only my co-workers know I am at really helps (even if that safe space is just visiting my clients at their homes).

In the New York City subways, you will always find people selling churos...not to be confused with cholos or cholitas.

I think they sold those at Disney Land as well. I could have lived off of them when I was a little kid.
As for controlling my anger; there really isn't too much that gets me heated. It's just a matter of drawing the line between keeping my cool, but also not having people walk all over me.

Are these words considered offensive to the group they describe? I know y'all said it's slang, but it could be offensive all the same.
Thanks this southern boy is learning something,
