In I believe the Winter issue of the Adelphean will be information about convention. I think it will be basic information along with a registration form because registration I think is due around end of February, early March. Late registration is done after that.

Now I'm just remembering from last years information from last years convention.

I HIGHLY suggest that if you want to attend convention that you start SAVING UP NOW!!!!!! I say this because airfare (depending where you are located) won't be cheap (cheaper than I believe Atlanta and Houston though b/c Phoenix does have one of the top 5 busiest airports in the United States). I would also suggest checking with the ADPi travel agent but do your own shopping around. Most cities have a Southwest flying in and out of them and I believe Southwest has a Hub here in Phoenix. America West, well there Hub is here in Phoenix. What else? Oh yeah, registration, unless you are an officer, I would recommend part time registration. I say this because most of the "activities" are going to be for "voting" members (which are Grand Council, International Officers and Alumnae Association presidents). Like I mentioned earlier I have been told by sisters who have been to half a dozen conventions that the meals are the "best" times to come because the lunches are when the speakers are there and the dinners are when we do ADPi activities.

As soon as I know more, convention prices, themes and whatnot I will let y'all know. Our second meeting should be sometime now. I do now that on our second meeting we will be going on a "field trip" to see Sheraton Wild Horse Pass just so we can see the resort and get an idea where everything will be held. I do know that where we will be, will be on the opposite side of the casino (sorry to all those under 21).

Shan,
You would still fly into Phoenix. As for a car, I would be more than willing to pick you up from the airport (same goes for any sisters) but if you would like one, feel free.

How bout we call it even on the gas, if you are willing to fly out before June and help me decorate my house (still crossing my fingers on that, have to call the mortgage dude tomorrow).

Just to let y'all know, if my house works out, I'm more than willing to have some sisters stay with me for free (I might just as for like twenty bucks to cover some food). We could just drive to the convention, which from my house would be about a half an hour drive (possibly forty five minutes, just depending on traffic).

I just found out that the information about convention will be in the winter Adelphean.

Also, go check out expedia.com for airfare, which you can look as far as June. For example, I looked to see how much it would cost ForeverDiamond to fly to PHX for convention and it was only $214 round trip, so I'm guessing y'all could get some pretty decent fares.

This sounds something i would love to goto.
Sacramento to Phoenix non-stop round trip is $239. Not bad.
Curious is it better to arrive on the 21th instead of the 22nd? Also stay for the whole 5 days? Thanks.

Ally and everyone else, I would arrive on the 21st because convention actually starts the 22nd, plus the resort will have a check in time. To be safe and make sure you can attend the opening banquet I would arrive on the 21st.

Unfortunately, still no update.

May I make a suggestion?

If you are making travel plans to the Convention (or anywhere, for that matter), go to each of the websites of the airlines that you would consider taking, and sign up for their frequent flyer programs. Then, most will also have a place to sign up for specials for cities to which that you're interested in going. Sign up, and you'll get a weekly/biweekly/monthly comparison of how much it will cost. That way, if a huge sale comes up, you can jump on it immediately!

The expedia, travelocity, and orbitz sites sometimes offer that, too. It can't hurt to check!

Frequent flyer idea

Honeychile - that is a great idea (frequent flyer e-mails). You can also set some homepages to show great travel deals to/from/in certain cities. I am making plans to be at convention with at least one of my chapter sisters (hopefully 2 of them). It will be a great way to get caught up with them... Anyone else from Eta Psi planning on going?

Hey sisters,

I attented the 2003 Convention in Houston, Texas as Delta Eta's Chapter Delegate(President). It costs my chapter $800 for my fulltime registration that included lunch and dinner, all the workshops and hotel stay. I didn't fly to Houston cause it was just a 2hr drive from Lake Charles, LA.

I know they do offer grants for chapters like mine, who are not the voting delegates to attend, and don't quote me but I think there is a grant for an alumna to attend for the Alumnae Associations or House Corporation delegate.

I hope who ever attends Grand Convention 2005 will be so honored because it was one of the most beautiful well-organized and meaningful conventions I've ever attended.

I hope maybe to meet some of you at 2005 if I get offered a TCC position!

Gena,
You should still come to convention!!!

I can't wait, mainly to see all the sisters who are hoping to come (an possibly crash with me).

FYI: No information as of yet on convention although on the website it is saying that information will be available after Jan. 1st. Kind of ironic since we don't even know what the theme is to plan the convention.

Also,

If your going Part-Time, I suggest the Closing Banquet. Its the awards Banquet and its the time when they honor each chapter(open and inactive) by a candlelite honor.

It's a very formal dinner, with the installation of the newly elected Grand Council Members which is very exciting.

Bri,

That's kinda strange they don't have the theme yet?

I remember getting my information while I was slated for being President. It will all fall together.

I know I live a ways from AZ, but if you need ANY help or idea's at all, I Would love to help out.

If I do attend, Is there room for me to crash as well?

Gena
