You can tell if someone has a swiss accent because it comes from the bauch (stomach in english) more so than a german person. It sounds more like they're hocking a loogie at you as opposed to people from Germany having more of a distinct ending in their words.

Oh, yes. I forgot about Romansh. I think it's like Italian with a hint of German.
Romansch :78% lexical similarity with Italian and French, 76% with Catalan, 74% with Spanish, Sardinian, and Portuguese, 72% with Romanian. Speakers are bilingual. Standard German is the language of instruction in school. An official written language is in common use now, called Grischuna. Official language. All dialects taught in school. Newspapers. Bible 1679-1953.

Only about .6% of the Swiss population speaks it.

Here is a link to a website that has info on it with Tin tin books for examples...it's odd looking yet cool. http://lakrabo.tripod.com/romansch.htm

Accents I like: Some southern accents, some British accents, Italian. Quebecois can be cute if they are fluent in English.

That depends on what part of Switzerland you are talking about. The French speaking portion is vastly different than the German speaking portion.

And it's Schweizer Deutsch(or Schwyzertüütsch or Züritüütsch). Schweitzer is a person...the nationality/language spelling is Schweiz (no T). I was a German teacher.

Nein, ich habe Deutsch an der Universitaet studiert, und habe ich auch in Deutschland, Liechtenstein, Oesterreich, und Scweiz viele gereist. Ich bin Professorin.

ETA: Accents of most kinds are quite cool...I'm partial to French, Italian, Irish, Scottish, and some Brit accents...I say some simply because people from parts of England sound ridiculous, Birmingham for example.

I don't like Scottish accents because I can't understand them. I like Irish accents since I grew up around them. I like Antonio Banderas' accent.

I get compliments on my Southern accent all the time and I think some people do find it alluring.

Maybe its because I live in the midwest.

I really do not have a thing for accents. I maybe would if I were living in a villa in Tuscany being seduced by a randy Italian guy, but generally I'm not into accents.

I don't think it increases my attraction to someone but it doesn't hurt.

Southern accents: South Carolina and Georgia

East Coast: Philadelphia and Baltimore

International: Jamaica, Ethiopia, Brasil, Italy
