Sing it!
You have to take a test to have a driver's license, be at least 18 to vote, be at least 21 to buy cigarettes, yet any idiot who is able to conceive can have children.
There is just no justice...

I just love that bumper sticker
As for the judge - I think that he was just trying to make a point as certainly there is no way to prevent more children via legal channels.

I personally have no problem wtih regulating the number of children that are born or who should have children.. I deal with STUPID people everyday and these people are breeding-it is very very scary. This world is going to be a very different place in 20-30 years.

Or a 17-year old high school dropout with no career skills or real life on the horizon. It seems that people in the most inappropriate situations in which to have a child are the most fertile.

I have 2 older sisters that are Social Workers. After seeing and hearing what the kids they work with have to go through and how the worthless parents don't care and will have another baby just for an extra $50 on their welfare check, I support that judge!
Once again, I believe you need a license to breed!

i think someone ought to start a petition on this. i'm sure you could get a bunch of signatures for it, especially from the rich republicans/middle class. i'm sure they all hate having their taxes go to people like that.

As much as I agree that some people should not have kids, the idea of requiring a license to have kids is totally unenforceable.

I completely agree.
I don't think these types of people have more and more children because they think they can afford to take care of more. If that is the case, they need to get their heads checked.

Wow! It is not the government's place to say when we can and can not have children, no matter how bad our decisions are. It is not something the goverment can regulate, even if you think certian people shouldn't have any more children. The more regulation occurrs, the less freedom we have.

Absolutely!
But at the same time, how to get it through some people's thick skulls that just because you can pop out a 5,6, 1000 children doesn't mean you should?!

True indeed...but when the children get here..who's place is it to provide for them when the parents don't? Hmm... So the government can't say when and where to have children..but can be forced to provide in the form of welfare etc...

This is one area that needs a little more regulation. Too many folks are having kids they can't support, don't necessarily want and we are all being held responsible. Everyone shouldn't be a parent no matter how inherent we think this right is. And before anyone mentions adoption when was the last time someone opted for adoption before they used up tens of thousands of dollars trying to get pregnant via in vitro fertilization. Besides there are thousands of kids waiting to be adopted (that we are still supporting) because someone opted to have a kid they couldn't support. If you have to have a license to do the most basic things why not be a little MORE supervised in raising a human being? I am not saying when and where to have it but some basic parenting classes would BE GREAT if nothing else. So folks can understand both the emotional AND financial responsiblity that children bring into your life.

I agree with the judge completely. The foster system is overcrowded as it is, not to mention the general population is out of control, and we don't need any more useless people popping out kids that will end up costing society even more money.
