DA hangs his head in shame. On an earlier post I had asked at the end how many "g's" there are in biggot/bigot -- but decided everyone else was probably right and edited it off. I really wasn't sure, and actually both looked OK.

A big day for me: learned two things:

a - SAM no longer all-Jewish (jees, I get their magazine a couple times a year, and I see lots of stories about rabbi/alumni and Jewish charities.)

b - capitalize name of religions
(to quote some grammar site:
"12) Capitalize the name of languages, races, nationalities, and_
_____ religions.
"Example: I learned in Spanish class that several Hispanics are Catholic.")

Also re-learned another lesson: any fool on GC, without the slightest evidence, can label one a bigot. My dictionary defines bigot as "an intolerant person."

As an alum of U of R, I can assure you that the SAM chapter is NOT predominantly Jewish at Rochester. Religion does not play a large role in Greek life.

While there is a lot of Jewish activities in the upper leadership, that doesn't make it Jewish. AEPi is the last remaining Jewish fraternity (out of aepi, zbt, sam) - take that for whatever you want.

I know that it had a large Jewish component but I don't know to what extent. They are a bit smaller in size and when I visited their website, I didn't find a single thing anywhere about being Jewish.

TEF was founded by 10 Jews, who were unable to gain admittance in the 2 professional fraternities at Columbia's Pharmacy School, according to Baird's. I don't know if TEF was explicitly Jewish, but it has been considered to be a Jewish fraternity by many. My father was a TEF from Tulane. I know that at least one of there chapters, the current one at CCNY, has few, if any Jews.
