Nope, not feeling the braids. I like conservative, clean cut guys.

I have mixed feelings about this one. Corn rows look good on most younger guys (well below 30) who keep the style up, but is terrible on older guys, and guys who make no effort to maintain the style. I'd prefer a guy with short hair.

Speaking of braids, I wonder about the guys who get designs in their hair and beads on the end of their braids. Now it may be cute for a 2 year old, but a 21 year old male...I don't think so. Also, once the braids start to get fuzzy, it is time to get them redone. If a guy knows that he won't be able to keep this style up...he need not try in the first place.

Case in point: my boyfriend. About a year ago my boyfriend started growing out his hair. He started getting it braided every couple of weeks. It looked very nice on him because he kept it up. A few more months went by and he started slacking off. He either wouldn't get the hair rebraided or would walk around with this "interesting 'fro." Reminded me of the song off of Erykah Badu's first CD "you betta pick yo afro daddy...cause it's flat on one side." As much as I loved him and he loved his hair we both knew that it was time for it to go. He cut it ALL off right before the new year, and in my opinion, is looking better than ever.

what about gold teeth?
Many young brothers are sporting "gold" teeth. I have seen some young ones in various orgs with the "bling bling"

...oh my goodnes!

Gold teeth is a TOTAL turn off for me! I mean YUCK!!! They make their breath smell like road kill and it's just plain UGLY. Braids on younger guys look pretty nice to me when they're casual, but I agree with everyone that they're ill-matched with a suit or tux. I love men of all types and styles if they're confident and know how to pull the look off.

It's funny, because I was talking to my mother about cornrows yesterday...I personally don't care for them...they just have this...thuggish look to them.

Dreads: I love them, as long as they aren't what I call "thug dreads" (the ones that look like a big clump of hair sticking out of the side of one's head)

Twists: I love them...IMHO, I've never seen any unkempt twists.

Gold/Platinum teeth--No No No No No. I think they are soooo nasty. Any man with those in his mouth gets a "F" in appearance from me!!!

Permed Hair--Oh no. No man of mine will have permed hair...I can't imagine him asking me to pick up a box of Optimum Care for him when I go to the beauty supply store, or him sitting next to me in the salon!!

To me, men and braids are associated with negativity, so I don't care for them. But have Y'all seen the man in the Changing Faces video? I could tolorate that but it would have to be on the DL.

Thumbs down

well... i can get with a man who likes to express himself. Indiviuality is usually a plus. Black men can be attractive with ALL KINDS of hair... But, I couldn't see myself long term with a man who wore anything BUT a low-college-cut kinda thing. I don't like how the others feel (i.e. dreads, afros, PUFFS)... But braids are generally a no-no.

Am I to understand that if a brother has corn rolls, twist, etc. and is attractive then you will give him some play - at least on the down low?
