Actually, my point was brought to light by Bob Griese yesterday when he confused the letters OSU with Ohio State on the ABC telecast. He actually said Ohio State when he meant Oklahoma State. Anyone else catch that?

When I was an undergrad, working on the university radio stations, we weren't allowed to use the term O.U., because of the confusion factor and because the president of the university didn't feel that just using the letters showed enough respect for the institution.

The point really has nothing to do with who is a great football power, but simply that using letters only can be confusing to folks in different parts of the country.

I just think that, to avoid confusion in any thread, it makes sense to use the fairly standard journalistic rule for print and broadcast -- use the official name of the school first (Oklahoma), and then the abreviation from that point on if you wish.

um i don't attend oklahoma university i beleive my loan money goes to The University of Oklahoma.

But back to football. Anyone think it was odd that on the opening drive the cowboys didn't even ask for a measurement on that failed third down, and it was a bad spot by nearly 10 inches. I new right then that the game was over.

And the Pokes were a little over hyped-up, Les should have talked to the team after Tatum Bell forgot fundaments of dropping on a fumble in the backfeild. The team was making freshmen mistakes all day. I wished the game was decent but alas one team showed up as a sub-decent football team and the other showed they deserve to be the #1 team in the nation.

Yeah. I used to be on the adjunct faculty of the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Otherwise known as CU. Go figure.
