I learned something from my backpack experience in Europe this past summer, that people LOVE Canadians and HATE Americans.
If you have some Canadian flags/shirts/patches, they always greet you with hospitality and somewhat nicer than to Americans. One time in Munich, one of my friend wore a Canadian shirt, and people just treated us differently than before. Oops. Really didn't mean to betray our country, but sometimes it is nice to be treated nicely, you know.
Canada is a peaceful country and people are friendly. I experienced this first hand when I visited Canada in several different times: Montreal, Quebec City, Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg.
We crossed Canadian border September 17, 2001, only six days after 9/11. The customs symphatized us, and gave the whole van little Canadian flags with white ribbon attached. That is nice of them.
Then we went to a bar in downtown Winnipeg (something with "Jack", like Old Jack or something), and as soon as they knew that we were Americans, they played "American Pie" song for us, and everyone cheered for us.
When we were at Winnipeg, we saw police patrol with horses, and weird looking outfit. I think that's funny, and it seems that they tried to copy British soldiers.
I think it must be awkward to have everything written in two languages: all signs, markers, even food packaging. I always laughed when I saw some English/Spanish written in Californian signs, and not until I saw signs with English/French I realized California is not the only weirdo out there.

That's probably because Canada is the only country that France could beat in a game of war.

Hey, it's not our fault we've been going in wars lead by the super-pussy British (think Boer War, WW1, WW2). We've held our own when we haven't been in their command.
Stan, the extra point is only for the kicker. Example, for an attempted field goal or punt. If you recovered the ball in their endzone, wouldn't you jump on it for a touchdown instead?

I've only got good to say here... (from living in the Detroit area my whole life)
As for TV productions, I grew up on The Green Giant, Mr. Dressup, and Bozo.. all filmed in Windsor.
The coverage of the Olympics is far better on CBC than it is in the US. They are less biased and show more variety of events. In the US, you only see the things we're good at. How else does a person learn about curling and dressage?
"Abowt" "Hahckey".. I love the accent!
Makes you feel rich when you exchange your US dollars for Canadian!
Much lower prescription drug costs.. many are crossing the border to get their meds these days.
The French Chinese restaurant I went to in Windsor.. imagine my surprise to find the fortune in my fortune cookie was in French on one side and English on the other! How totally awesome is that?
(As far as health care, here in the good ole' USA, I had to wait 7 weeks to get in to see a specialist when I was dehydrated, anemic and losing 2 1/2 pounds a week for 5 months, so I don't think they have it any worse than we do!)
I wouldn't want any country OTHER than Canada to be our northern neighbors!

Exactly. Hence I still don't understand how the rougue works. I need an example I can visualize. Are rougues scored on 3rd down plays like FGs are or what?

The Rouge is actually a defensive play, if you can't get the ball out of your endzone, you take a one point hit as opposed to recovery by the offense for a touchdown. basically if there is a scramble in the endzone where possession is up for grabs, you would kick the ball out of the endzone and give up a point, or fight for possession and possibly give up 6. If the liklyhood of you making it out of the endzone is slim to none, than kicking the ball out is the best option, cause even if the ball is recovered if you don't make it out then you give up one point.

hmmmm no shit, i thought if the offensive team kicked the ball through the endzone on a punt it would result in an extra point. A reward for the poor punter who can boot the shit out of a ball.

Wile we might have difficulty with our "O"'s  , I've never heard a Canadian pronounce hockey like "hahckey". I have however heard several of our souther neighbours pronounce it like that, especially in Wisconsin.

"O Canada, our home and native land..." Much easier to sing than the "Star Spangled Banner", whose melody originated from a drinking song.

Thats true to---if a punter kicks the ball through the endzone than a point is awarded. Same if the momentum of a kick pushes the reciever into the endzone and he can't get out, that results in a Rouge as well. The team who takes the one point hit, gets the ball at the 35yrd line, so sometimes it is the best option to advance the ball.
