Yes SFs, my prayers go out to this family, as well.

It is difficult to understand what would make a sistah shoot her husband.

I am currently going through a situation. My friend's cousin (we all grew up together) was JUST killed by his wife, as well. The police are not pressing charges because she had called the police several times for domestic violence as well.

They too have two small children (who were home at the time). She walked in the restroom (where he was handling his business and straight shot him...with a MAC 10). That was it. It is time for us all to pray for these people. I hust can't imagine.

Try and imagine being in an abusive relationship where you are afraid to leave. Perhaps the last time this man put his hands on her he may have uttered a simple "I'm gonna do x,y,z to you next time you do x,y,z." If "kill" is anywhere within that statement, I KNOW some women may feel "compelled" to do it first.

The majority of women who are incarcerated in the United States, right now, for homicideof abusive spouses. Many state that they felt their time had "come." Where he was truly getting to that point where he was going to "seriously" possibly fatally injure her OR the children.

It makes me want to cry

PEACE

PearlsNivy...
They live in somewhat northeast Columbia, going toward Blythewood. She attended Keenan High School, I think she graduated in like 1992 or 1993.

Thanks Onesavvydiva. I heard from my aunt in Columbia that Deidra not only went to high school with my cousin, they went to nursery school all the way through high school together. My cousin lives in Ohio now and I haven't spoken to him, but I hope to speak with him soon. My aunt also mentioned the credit union incident. She said she thinks Deidra was not charged because she was suffereing from post partum depression. The attempeted robbery occurred soon after the birth of her 5 year-old.

Deja, I think Deidra was involved in some fraud scam. Maybe that is what the credit union incident is about. Sorors, don't leave us hanging!!!

Yes SFs,

Post-partum depression can be the pits. It's interesting because it is due to the SHARP decline in hormones upon childbirth as well as the feeling of being overwhelmed after the birth of a child. I am not sure if there is any post-partum therapy available (I'm sure there is), but most women eventually "snap" out of it with support of family anf friends and (hello) the husband/father. There are the occasional women who end up harming their children or themselves and/or neglecting them to extreme measures.

I agree with AKA2D '91 that this woman most likely had some other psychological problems because I've NEVER heard of a woman committing fraud and trying to "come up" on some quick cash due to post-partum depression.

But let me look at the web address before I jump to conclusions.

My prayers still go out.

PEACE

PinkIvy,

Very interesting. It seems like Diedre is suffering from some type of emotional disorder. I am still baffled. She seem to be such a bright young lady. May GOD guide her now and forever more.

Thanks,

Deja

Yes, it is sad, and because of the media coverage, I'm sure it'll be difficult for the children later in life. Seeing that he had other baby mothers, and there's the possibility that Deidre was domestically abused, I can't begin to imagine the tumult of feelings that are going on inside of her. However,I have a few questions:

1) If her brother picked him up, then does that mean she was expecting him to come home?

2) I do believe I read (or heard on the news) that his body was found inside of the doorway or near it. So, was he shot as soon as he came in the house? If in fact he had been domestically abusing her before they separated and she expected him to come, why not change the locks (I'm going on the presumption here that she was in fear for her life)?

3) What happened to her brother? Did he just drop him off and leave or was he waiting on him in the car. I mean, if Fred Lane was not coming home to reconcile and was only coming by to try to raise $$, does that mean he wasn't planning on staying there? But wasn't his bags also nearby?

4) Why was she initially taking a part in planning his memorial?

It'll be interesting to see how this progresses.

This is an update on the Fred Lane story.

His wife turned herself in this morning and was charged with first degree murder for his death.
