GC is supposed to be lighthearted, and people have better things to do. You see, you have too much time on your hands to even think about this. Let alone post it. It's not that serious, see. I mean, if it's that serious to you, then ok, but it's not going to be that serious to anyone else. Get a life. Not to mention, people have other listservs and message boards that they post on, so GC is simply extra.

Like I said, hold your breath and wait on it.
This is my point exactly!!!! Why bring up OLD MESS that was settled a lond time ago? Why expose PRIVATE MESSAGES none of us really need to know or care about????

who are you to tell me or my sorority of almost 80 years what we shold be referred to ??

We are SIGMA women.
Just because who ever brought you in did not properly inform you does not give you the right to inflict your ignorance.

Ok THETA?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for sending this e-mail just to prove my point of showing how low some people can really go and show they ASS when they really want to.

I'm voting at the next convention that we not be referred to as Delta's, but Sigma's. Since we were founded before you and the Sigmas, then that will settle the issue.

(shakes head)

Get a life!

Well looks like we have something in common! We both saved the PM. Now who's response sounds less hateful, mine or yours?
I could care less that I showed your PM(laughing snort) and the fact that you were a neo made it even worse.

Hey Ideal!(yeah I knew you were being sarcastic, lol)
Hey Treblk!(miss you!)

Ok so if NO ONE cares, let's end it like this:

No more smart ass/snide comments about my sorority. Because while some of you may not care, I DO CARE. And I take Delta serious. Respect mine and I will respect yours.

And if we are seeing eye to eye on that, then YES we have nothing further to talk about

Ta Ta!

I fixed your quote code soror

Question Oh my!!

This thread is pretty disturbing to me. I know I have been out of touch lately but I really don't like to see things like this. Gosh, I didn't know that some feel like they have to "tip toe" around us SGRhos!

I'm always going to keep it real and make you feel welcomed too. And I do feel welcomed in the Delta forum. I have never had a problem here and hopefully won't in the future. I am comfortable with who I am and what I do. If some of my Sorors make you feel like you have to tip-toe then I am sorry. Please don't make general statements like that. I was one of the first on GC. I have made statements that "tell it like it is" but I do not make general statements about any other organization or forum here on GC. It's called maturity.

It might be disturbing but it needed to be said. I am all for clearing the air. Sometimes friction happens on GC, when it does IF it can be resolved, fine. If not, keep it moving.

BlueReign, I have never had a negative experience with you in the past and I welcome your input, but there are some of your sorors, neos or not, who do not exactly exhibit the maturity that you and some of your other sorors have. One of my favorite GC S G Rhos has been MIA -- JojaPeach.

The divisions that happen on GC or any other Internet forum mirror similar divisions that happen in the real world, PLZBLVIT. These divisions are not always the sorority/fraternity ones either.

I have never "tiptoed" around anyone, but my mother and that is ONLY because she is a BLACK BELT in AZZ WHOOPINGS. If I don't like something or someone, I just no longer interact with them. I am an outspoken person, as are many of the people on GC, and the way I express myself might not gel with everyone. C'est la vie.

For anyone who felt this thread was in poor taste, **shrug** stuff happens. To those who felt that it should not have been bought up, **shrug** you need to talk about problems to work to eliminate them or at least understand them. To those who think, we don't get along -- We do in some ways, but not all the time. Who does?

I'm not going to discuss the original content of this thread cause it's not really any of my business. I just wanted to say, that if you have an issue with the content of posts on the ZPB forum, please REPORT IT, and either I or Shelacious will take care of it. I don't always read every post because I've got my hands full with Chit Chat so sometimes I miss things. TY.

My take on things

Well, I have several comments to make:

1. When posting anything on GC and anywhere else, remember you are a reflection of the organization of which you are a member. That's the first thing!

2. How can we possibly know WHEN we are calling a Sorority out of their name???? Different regions, states, cities, schools, etc. call all of us different "nicknames" if you will. SOOOOOOoo how about a thread on Nicknames. I bet many will be surprised to see what school or region calls nicknames. I had never heard of Reds until I got on GC three or four years ago. Do I like it or use it. No. But that terms is indigitive of a particular era. Not mine, so I move on and try not to make a big deal of it. It's not making me loose sleep at night.

3. Tension is normally very high amongst Greeks and/or GCers who are neos. Neos (especially those in their first year) are eager and respond to things based on emotions and the excitement of being new and wanting to belong and be accepted in the organization and by others. So the thing for us to do is to "train them the way they should go" If your soror or frat is out of line....check 'em...in a nice way of course.

4. Learn something about the other organizations other than just their colors and symbols. Because I can respect the other organizations' causes, I can respect the organization itself. Support their programs and events...not just their parties. At one point, yearrrss ago, I could not understand why some brothers wanted to be Kappas (no disrepect to my brothers of the Krimson and Kreme) but I didn't know anything they did...until one of my best guy friends pledged and started inviting me to some of their public functions. I can appreciate them so much more now that I have an understanding of what they are all about. And I can say that about all of the organizations in the NPHC. I even facilitated a workshop for an undergraduate chapter of SGRHos (which is what they are called where I come from) on 10 easy fundraisers. We can only become united by taking the first step to unite and that is not necessarily by being a Pan Representative or officer.

5. And if all else fails, remember the Golden Rule, do unto others as you would have them do unto you...not do unto others as they do unto you......

...and she's exited the building

sorry but I did not say all rho's on GC, in fact, I've had some wonderful chats with a few of you, and please read my post before you say I made a "general" statement

Quote:
I'm tired of SOME of you saying we don't make you welcome on the other boards

I'm tired of SOME of you making snide comments to us and we dont say any damn thing, but when someone who isn't worth two chits makes a thread about DST/AKA. It's an all out war and "hey what about me?" WHO CARES!

There was a reason why I kept putting SOME in caps. Because i would be lying if I said all the Sgrho's on GC.
It needed to be addressed and I know folks know what I'm talking about, hope it woke some people up.

Much GC love,

QTE

I wasn't going to get into this 'cause it ain't my battle, but CT4's post made me change my mind... (you are right, sometimes you gotta talk about the uncomfortable stuff to clear the air)

Can SOME sorority members be a little thin-skinned about some issues? Certainly, but then some MAJORITY folks will say we, as Black people, can be the same way about what we are called. My point is, so what if Sigma Gamma Rhos are called Rhos, or Gammas, or Sigmas where you are. If a person on GC says we prefer to be called X what is the harm is accomodating their request? Why go into the "Well on MY campus we call them Ys and they don't have a problem with it, so that's what I am going to call you!"

I think most of the Black folks on this site would have a cow if someone called them colored and then said "Well I've always called y'all colored and the good colored folks in my hometown don't mine so I'm still gonna call you colored!"

Actually, on my birth certificate I and my parents are called 'Negro'.

Me too! On my parents, they and their parents are colored. Just don't be trying to call none of us either one of those names!

I think so, too. But I've got an excuse -- I was born in 1964. I think "Negro" was still in common usage back then.
