Nope, Halloween has been around much longer than Christianity has. Check out the link I posted earlier to find out a bit more.

You all please do not take my question out of context, I never said I agreed or disagreed, I am neutral on this issue.

Thanks, dzrose, for your informative posts--a lot of people think Halloween is Satanic, but it's totally not! Big misconception...

Wow...I think some of you are over-reacting. Dionysius was asking a question...why do you find that offensive. You can't be informed until you ask and someone informs you...but if you all take offense you may be giving a bad impression.

Everything at witchvox.com is informative about Wicca and other pagan religions. Halloween IS a pagan and satanic holiday but BOTH are completely different. Satanic people believe/worship the devil and DO celebrate halloween as their "special" night....but they did not create it....so therefore the holiday is not satanic...but satanic people incorportated it. (For example, I knew several Jewish families that celebrate Christmas as a family holiday not a religious...but it is not a Jewish holiday)

Get it?

Halloween is as "satanic" as Christmas.

Just about all of our Christmas traditions here in the US (and I'd guess Canada also) are based on Pagan traditions... Druids started Christmas trees.. The current location of the holiday was supposed to take the place of what I think was a Druid holiday (could be wrong). That was something the early church did. It spread religion by adapting Christianity into whatever religion currently existed. Hence we have all of these different church traditions in different areas.

That's what I've read, too...Christmas isn't *really* Jesus' birthday. He was probably born sometime in the spring, but we celebrate the holiday in December because the Church needed its own holiday to compete with the existing "heathen" one.

I think that it's possible to make Halloween a scary, Satanic holiday or make it harmless and fun--depending on how you set it up.

At our house, Halloween is a fun, pumpkin-and-candy corn/trick or treat kind of holiday. We don't let any of the kids dress in horrible costumes or watch horror movies and it works fine for us. Even ASLFRose is okay with it and she's the most conservative of all of us!
