Need advice concerning best friend and rush!

Everyone who has posted here has been right...picking a house is very personal and rush is about mutual selection, so it's not like you can both go in and agree to join a certain house, b/c you only have so much control over the situation. And unless you are in the same rush group, you won't be able to communicate when it's time to do your rankings...and if you are in the same rush group, you shouldn't be discussing that stuff, anyway..."tent talking."

Just reassure your friend that you'll love her no matter what houses you guys end up in, and then if you do end up joining different houses, it could be fun...

You could go shopping for socials together, do each other's hair for your formals, if you live in the house you can "escape" to her house for a breather...this could add a new dimension to your friendship.

Why don't you tell your friend that you'd like to be in the same sorority as her but you can't promise anything because she might like a sorority that you don't? For example, say she really likes XYZ but you really like AB. You don't want her to "settle" for AB when she has her heart set on another house and would like the sisterhood there better. Tell your friend that you want her to join the house she likes best. If that's the same house you like, great, but if not, you want her to go where she thinks she'd be happiest.

Sometimes a chapter may get an erroneous idea that 2-3 PNMs want to stick together so they may base their bid decision on that. So the two of you may need to have an understanding that that "take both of us" isn't seen as a "must".

I've seen natural sisters join the same sorority and it didn't work out...so each PNM must decide for herself what organization she wants to be a dedicated part of the rest of her life.

I had a similar thing happen to me when I was going through rush. My roomate wanted us to join the same sorority. But at the end of rush she did not get a bid, and I got 2. I felt really bad for her. She soon moved out of that school (nothing to do with any sorority though!) after she moved, another friend that went through rush with us moved in. (I had also went to high school with her) She had choosen AGD. While I had choosen ZTA. we got along great, Even though we had went with different sororities. it was kinda funny comming into our dorm room seeing half the room decorated with Zeta stuff and the other side with Alpha gam stuff! But it actually worked out really good. I got to meet a lot of her sisters and the same went for her.

my advice 4 you would be just go through rush with an open mind. be yoursef and which ever group you seem to click with the most would be the best one for you! Good luck to you and your friend!!!

I totally understand. I'm going through the same thing right now. One of my best friends is also thinking about rushing this fall (informal). I am interested in house ABC, and she's interested in XYZ. Oh, and my roomate is also XYZ, so there is a lot of pressure for me to rush that sorority! After it's all said and done, even if we're in different houses, I'm sure we will still be close friends
