I appreciate the faith (and sarcasm) from my panhellenic sisters though. Y'all are gems.
We've been asked this question a bazillion times. We get tired of answering it.

If you are such a straight up person then I should assume you've already contacted the CPH at her new school to let them know she's already an initiated member of AAA?????????

What the hell does it matter if it's possible? Hell, anything's POSSIBLE... but that doesn't make it right.

Just out of curiosity, huh? Sounds more to me like you're hoping to help your "friend" get away with something.

I read in the threads that you can't rush another NOC organization once you've initiated into one (of course) but it just seems like such a difficult job to know who is who and what they're doing.
Yea, it's really not that difficult to track down two people who are trying to break the rules of the NPC.. A rule that you seemingly had to learn about on Greekchat.

You know it's wrong, and you know she could easily get caught, so talk to her about it. And if she still attempts to rush again, contact her new school's Panhellenic Council.

The end.

See, I saw this as that sort of trying-and-failing-to-be-tactful, uncommitted sort of "oh, yeah, just a random question here..." because she wants to get the girl in trouble. Or maybe the people I work with with whom this is extremely common ("Hey, manager, it's just one coupon per customer per day, right? Just double checking. Cause, (girl most employees don't like) just let a woman use like 6 and I wanted to double check and see if I could") need to take a class in being sneaky. I feel like if this girl had given up her letters in a non-negative way (like couldn't afford it, or...actually I can't think of another non-problem reason to give up your letters, help?) OP wouldn't have used the term terminated. Terminating people is serious business (unless other GLOs use the term to mean left in general?).

THIS.

I can't tell if the OP is pro or con. I simply know that termination is serious business, indeed, and the OP's "friend" is not going to get away with anything. Not in this day and age. I can't imagine keeping THAT secret for a lifetime: "I was initiated into XF @ Uof?, but I was terminated, so I transferred to Uof! and was initiated into EOP. And I'm just sure I'm never going to ever run into anyone from XF or Uof? for the rest of my lifetime." Yeah, right. Good luck with that.

It would be funny if at the end of recruitment at the new school the only invite to preference she had was XF.

Terminated for behavior, so not leaving on good terms.

I want the best for her but my idea of that is a fresh start so she can avoid further trouble and I'm worried she's only going to hurt herself more. So I'm anti re-rushing, but I do feel bad for the girl. She was the only one of a group of sisters that got caught at a party in letters. She lied and said that she was the only one who went in order to keep everyone out of trouble, and so I am sympathetic to her situation.

I don't know that I can give much more information without telling too much.

Wait, this was after initiation? I have never heard of a group terminating someone for a single incident like this.

So.. She's petitioning with your national organization while trying to join a different GLO?

Hmm...I would have to assume the national org came back with a negative response if she's planning to go through fall recruitment. I hadn't really given that any thought, although I should have.

Hold up. Are you sure she was really kicked out? I have never heard of an NPC group that let the CHAPTER kick someone out without it going through higher levels of the organization. Now, it's possible they pressured her into resigning, in which case, reinstatement may be possible, but she should definitely get some clarity from HQ on her status.

I don't know the answer to this for sure, but from what it seems (and what she's told me/I've gathered from other members), she was terminated due to a judicial hearing in front of a panel of active collegiate members of our chapter. she says she was kicked out, but it is possible that she was forced to resign? I am just going into my second year in the sorority so I'm not well versed in these procedures.

Was there a chapter adviser or similar alumnae representative present? I am 99.99% certain that no NPC group allows collegians alone to make such a decision. My own group takes termination so seriously that it must go to the national board, and while I am not familiar with the operations of that many other groups, I find it hard to believe that they would differ that much.

Now, if she was a pledge (not yet initiated), it may not be quite as serious to terminate her, but still, without an alumna present, I don't think this could really have happened as you are describing (not that I think you're lying; I think either the chapter misunderstood the process or deliberately misled your friend, or your friend is leaving out information).

I would think their honor or standards or whatever board could recommend expulsion but most likely some higher power (Council?) would hae to OK it. But even if they did, she's not eligible for membership in another NPC group.
