Nothing new. I feel that a lot of politicians "find Jesus" while on the campaign trail. Didn't Obama's stance on gay marriage and abortion change as well around 2007?

ETA- By finding Jesus I mean adjusting their views to be more inline with or palatable to their political party or the American public.

Obama showed his birth certificate today. Kate and William get married in 2 days. What useless event will be covered on Saturday since nothing important like wars, earthquakes, storms, financial crisises are taking place.

Amen Sister.

This entire thing just makes me want to hit my head on a desk.

As for Trump and the rest... well it should be interesting to see where it all goes.

From what I understand, his college performance was sub-par to say the least.

He allegedly makes George Bush look like a genius.

Edit: And there are few things about Trump that are conservative.

I concur. Trump is just jumping on this bandwagon to get attention. I'm sure his political opinions are as flimsy as his toupee.

I'm sorry and I'm not trying to say this to be rude or insulting, but to believe that Donald Trump and this incident has signed his ticket to the GOP convention shows that people really don't know what the GOP is all about.

The GOP on a National Stage is not defined by its Fringe, if it was so Steve Forbes, Ron Paul, and Christine (the witch) O'Donnell and others would have been serious nominees along time ago. Only thing Trump has done is push himself while making the Status quo nervous. Heck even the Governor of Arizona had to dial it back once it got to the point where the Fringe was trying to get bills passed.

Trump is not running and if he did throw his hat in, nobody wants a First Lady Milania. Not gonna happen. He's entertainment.

My own issue with the President's birth certificate was that the one he had originally released would not have been valid for most lineage societies. I haven't yet seen it, so I won't comment further on it.

The Donald. My own feeling is that he is there to bluster for the GOP, until they can find a viable candidate. Right now, no one candidate stands out - I even got a call from a Newt Gingrich for President committee the other night!

But we aren't talking lineage societies. We know societies operate on a different mindset than most other things. Its about the government and what is recognized by the United States of America, and also respecting the will of a particular state in the Union in how they produce that information. What Obama produced originally is what the State Hawaii allowed to be released.

I was just stating my own interest in the matter. Also, I have seen Hawaiian birth certificates that were long form - this is not of the magnatude to which it's reached.

My "right wing extremist" (self-defined) family members are saying that a "Certificate of Live Birth" isn't a birth certificate. Nevermind that my four grandparents, two parents, brother and self have Certificates of Live Birth.

I'M NOT AN AMERICAN!

Not true for DAR and UDC. What other lineage societies are you referring to?

I'm sorry and I'm not trying to say this to be rude or insulting, but to believe the GOP is about anything other than electability (as shown by Palin's vetting etc.) shows that people really WANT a certain thing to be true, rather than proving it IS true.

(EDIT: For the record, I wish it were true as well)

Republican party didn't vett Palin, McCain did...poorly.

The reflection of Palin as a viable candidate is proven by the fact that she is NOT a frontrunner for the nomination.

She is just a tool, like Trump. Electrify the base, but you wouldn't really give her the nomination.

Understood in your own interest, but when your own interest shape your opinion, that's how Tea Parties are started. Just like what PreciousJeni wrote Certificate of Live Birth is not proof according to her far right.

Heck some states recognize the Family bible.
