Contact your fraternity's headquarters. I find it highly improbable that a collegiate chapter can vote to remove an alumnus from the fraternity's roles. Alumni generally are not under the purview of collegiate chapters. Maybe your fraternity is different, but it just seems a little odd.

When he says "blackball" I think more than any status nationally, it's a "don't let him come to the house and don't invite him to events" sort of local thing.

That's kind of what I figured. Tell them to chill the @#$% out - are they all going through breakups or hating women or something? That's usually where this kind of stuff starts...they have nothing better to do with their time.

He is registered with nationals. Our nationals only accepts names of new members from the greek life office at school. At the time he pledged, we did not have to 01 rule (stating you can't bid first semester freshman) so they turned his name in to the office when he officially became a student and it got sent to nationals, so yes he is registered.

Black balling him as an alumi would require a 2/3 vote 2 weeks in a row from the active membership. Then we send it to the GL office and they inform nationals, who removes him from the registry. Essentially it means he can no longer put "I was a member of STG" on his resume because nationals will not recognize him. It also means that any back dues he may owe (which I believe are $0) would be collected through a collection agency. He obviously couldn't wear letters anymore and wouldn't be permitted in certain parts of the house.

I missed that part. I agree that wouldn't happen either, as Greek Life offices have nothing to do with termination of individual members. (thank God)
