now a days, girls can usually get away with a solid white cardigan, either short or long sleeved and even a white shrug to cover their shoulders if their white dress has straps or is strapless.

you might be able to find something at white house/black market if there is one in your town.

I haven't read this entire thread so if someone has already said this, please forgive me.

My sister got her dress for initiation at David's Bridal for a little over a hundred dollars. And, consider it an investment because a lot of women's organizations wear white for ritual after initiation.
