And you are wrong, I was making that point. The point being, if the young lady is in her organization, then changing schools shouldn't matter, she'd still be a part of the organization! She'd only be changing chapters. I asked the end question of being in her organization for life because if she changed schools, then it's only a simple thing of telling the Grand Chapter where she was in order to change her chapters for roll. Jeez, you'd think I was asking if she was purple or something or if she liked eating peanut butter and pita bread.
It was a general question and a general answer response. Good God!
|
But you are wrong. You have no idea what her organization expects.
Some NPC chapters don't even let others affiliate as active members, so your claims about only the chapter changes may in fact be completely WRONG.
ETA: it is kind of odd when we think we can tell NPC right away without asking.

Again, MissUGA, I only responded to one question and got jumped on like white on rice. I only made one suggestion and had one solution. Now if you felt that I was asking the child if she liked to bungee jump naked while eating shrimp from a hat, then that's a different question. I only asked one thing. Back up and back off. Good golly Miss Molly.

I wouldn't have said anything to you had you accepted "the stay in your lane" comment with any grace. You were giving bad advice because the experience you can expect in your group isn't necessarily what you can expect in an NPC group, depending on the group or chapter. Had you even said, "In my organization XYZ, blah, blah, blah" you wouldn't have heard from me, but you 1. gave bad advice, 2. gave attitude when called on it.

Miss UGA the advice may have been misguided but was done with honest intentions. The "attitude" only came when necesssary.

You're swerving all over the road now. I'm going to have to give you a ticket.
Not in an NPC sorority = not giving advice about it
Not in an NPHC sorority = not giving advice about it

You were given the same "stay in your lane" comments that we all get. There was nothing necessary about suggesting it was the equivalent of limiting you to "the back of the bus."
I do accept that you meant to be helpful in your original comment though. One of the things about GreekChat for all of us is that we learn we don't know half as much about Greek Life, especially for members of other Greek Councils, as we think we do when we start.

Honestly, I don't care what your intentions were. If someone corrects your wrong advice, shrug it off, and don't take it as personally as you obviously are. Wrong advice given here can really hurt people who come here needing real advice, and letting it stand as wrong advice can cause all sorts of problems.
I know I'm not a seasoned GCer, but I'm going to tell you NOW to listen to what they say. I think if KSUviolet tells you to stay in line, stay in line. She's been here for a while, she knows what she's doing. And if and when the board takes sides, they certainly are not going to take yours.

And KSUviolet is going to treat you with a level of politeness that some users won't.

Let's end this debate, pllleeeeaaasseee! I understand the need for the ticket, thanks! I'm willing to accept the correction. But I am in a NPHC sorority, just to pass the correction, been in there for years, thank the Lawd!

Thank you for that! All I was doing was trying to be helpful not start WWIII followed by a thorough Douglass/Lincoln Debate. Correction can come as needed, I just find that in correcting others, it's just the way in which a person does so that can easily cause others to feel as though they are being "jumped on" for no reason and that can cause attitudes and misunderstandings very easily. Thank you Miss UGA.

Welcome to GreekChat.
For me it was an Alumnae Initiation thread; for you, swerving lanes here. Those of us who jump in with our opinions too soon often feel this way, but you learn. There's a pattern and personality that we don't get to set.
