Ok, I have been reading the transcript of the interview on ABC between Sarah Palin and Charlie Gibson and I am COMPLETELY FRUSTRATED.
Can I say that she OBVIOUSLY is an intellectual midget who does not know the first thing about what has been going on in our WORLD since who knows when. Of course, I'm not surprised now that I've foudn out that she just got a passport 2 weeks ago.

I'm floored. She knows nothing about Bush's policy, world relations. I'm just floored b/c she has the AUDACITY to be the leader of a U.S. STATE. Has she had her head in the sand for the last 8 years. She needs a simple world government class.

This is not about whether she is knowledgeable enough to be president, this is simply about whether she is knowledgeable enough to pass a World Government/Politics course. Probably not. Yet she calls herself a governor.

Take a read for yourself - notice that she never really answers any of the questions with the depth and insight that you would expect if she knew ANYTHING at all about world government. Heck, she didn't even know what Bush's 2002 strategy was. Then, when Charlie explained, she didn't even answer the question - b/c she didn't get it. The nuance was whether *preemption* should be our policy. She started talking about *imminent* threats. Clearly, if the threat is *imminent*, then this is not the case of preemption - which is what Charlie specifically asked about. I don't know. Maybe she doesn't know what preemption means. I'm not sure.

I'm frustrated. I'm an Obama supporter but geesh, McCain couldn't find anyone else? An intellectual midget indeed. Forget whether she is qualified to be VP or President. I'm starting to wonder if she's qualified to be governor. Somebody PLEEEEEEEASE get her a crash course in World Government.

http://blogs.thetimes.co.za/minor/20...erview-on-abc/

Edited to Add: And I just found out that she went to 6 colleges in 6 years to get her Bachelor's. Maybe the World Government class slipped through the cracks with all that. She LOOKS so intelligent...until she opens her mouth. This is starting to feel real familiar.... (Bush 3?) I'm frustrated.

i think what's really interesting is that her supporters like her b/c she's "just like me". i've heard a number of people say this. plus these are the same folks who call Barack Obama an "elitist" and "uppity" (ie. he forgot his place) due to his education but not sarah palin. she's just a regular person. the same was said about bush (remember he's the one folks would like to drink a beer w/except for the fact that he was a recovering alcoholic).
wwhen it's all said and done, we'll have had 8 years of a "regular guy" (w/Yale and Harvard degrees and from a politically connected family). his C-average has us in terrible shape as a nation.
we just can't afford her 5 schools in 6 years or mccain's 5th from the bottom rank of his graduating class

I'm at this interview. Can someone please explain this to me. I feel like I need to re-take a civics/government course after that interview.
I don't even have the words...I don't think there are any words for that. The Russia, The Bush Doctorine, Attacking across borders...I feel so confused and frustrated.

6 colleges in 6 years? Were they all in Alaska? Were they all accredited? What the hell?

I just can't. and I wont!

Im going to watch Obama on Youtube. I need a pick-me-up.

Oprah does not need to have that type of ignorance on her show. GOP women can boycott what they want, but I want to know how much of an impact they think they'll make on a woman who basically Single-handedly took on the Entire Beef Industry and WON. Really though? These ignorant and overly desperate housewives need to get over themselves.

Palin's speech rallied her Republican base. She had to quiet their doubts more than independents or so-called Hillary Republicans. Like others have said up thread, she delivered/presented the speech well. But, the McCain camp already knew she could because they had been watching her tapes. Now, for content, I wasn't impressed with the low blows she took at Obama especially when she said "being a small town mayor was like being a community organizer only with actual responsibilities." The republicans definitely got their attack dog (pitbull with lipstick).

I expected the Republicans to insult Obama & Biden's personal characters. That's what they do. Now the question is how will the Democrats respond. Palin has opened the door for Biden to completely aggressively take her head on without being labeled demeaning. Reading a speech is one thing, but going face to face without unprepared text is another.

Now that both conventions are over, what do you score them?

I score the Dems an A-. The speeches were good, the delegates were enthused and the program was sound. It was as good as it gets. The policy and platform details were kind of skimpy until the last night.

I score the Repugs a C+. They picked up the pieces after the schedule disruption and did the best they could. However, EVERYTHING seemed just so scripted and pointedly partisan and personal. Did anyone notice the green-screen-of-death again? *snicker*

I'm not sorry to say that to comment on the pregnant unmarried 17 year old is a fair topic. I think it says something about your family when you preach one thing and your children do another.

More importantly, Sex has become a political issue. Whether it takes the form of gay rights, abortion, or sex education.

In Palin's daughter's case we are talking about abortion and sex education. Palin believes you should teach abstinence only before marriage and that even in cases of rape the mother should not be presented with the option of abortion. Well we all see the result. Her teenaged daughter is 5 months pregnant and about to proceed with what is probably a shotgun wedding.

So to some this may be one of the clearest examples of why they wouldn't want her to have any hand in decisions on Sex education, abortion, etc....

I wanted to post this because I haven't heard about it in the news yet. There was an anti-Palin rally in Alaska and the following link was emailed to me.

When Palin's friends from Alaska were being interviewed on a news show, they had the nerve to say that they were still undecided on who they were voting for. Now if Palin can't count on her own friends, why would anybody else be down with her.

I'm sure it's because they too realize that things would be scary with McCain as President, and even scarier if Palin became President. I think she is simply easy on the eyes and wears nice glasses. If find her to be less than intelligent.

Unfortunately, Palin & McCain will be attending something or holding a rally right across the street from where I work.

I live in Nashville and just had to take a number to get gas, which was given to me by one of several gas station attendants manning the pumps while police directed traffic. THERE IS NO GAS IN THIS CITY! This is where I draw the line! If people do not get out and vote and realize that these gas shortages are more about middle eastern foreign policy.
